Housekeeping

Fledglings step their way through June; yikes we'll be Flying in to summer soon!

Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, although Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) [[http://www.flylady.net/d/br/2017/06/11/please-explain-the-zones-6/
here]]

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Oh and not forgetting "habit of the month" which for June is : drinking water!

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

I know Zoo the sixth month of the year. How the jeff did that happen? Shock Seriously!?

I like to get going early when it's hot too. I expire in the heat nowadays!

Water drinking tips: a timer? Set for every two hours maybe? Or what I am doing currently (for weight loss reasons) is drinking a glass of water before every meal and before bed/first thing when wake up? Or have a water bottle on you at all times and sip continuously?

If we can't push Ive into a pit of eternal stench would someone distract her with baked goods?
It is not fucking nearly Christmas until AFTER the 11th November and remembrance Sunday. THEN it is nearly Christmas

Whilst I am grumping how the absolute flying fuck is it JUNE?! Shock

Right to do list:

  1. bath
  2. empty car and take to mechanic for plan of action/booking repairs
  3. remove stuff from ds' room that is not supposed to be there
  4. Open curtains and window and let some light and air in
  5. Spend a couple of hours stripping wall paper, measuring and generally muttering dark words and swearing
  6. Consult an expert
  7. Gather all the resources needed for fixing a thing
  8. spend several hours muttering darkly, swearing and trying not to more break the thing.
  9. Comfort eat

Also to do: all the laundry, clean the fish tank, and sod off into a hill where there are NO people!

How exciting is my day going to be be?! Can't wait Hmm

Morning all, as usual I have been struggling a bit with keeping up with the thread but am signing in for the new month. Family fun day out with relatives today, its getting warm so about to slap on the suncream and get going.

With all due respect ive you want to talk about Christmas in June please take it to the Christmas topic. Christmas is fucking hell on earth that I DO NOT need reminding of. I hate Christmas because it mean emotional abuse, physical harm and all levels or horrible things I DON'T want to be thinking about the rest of the year. Especially when we have only just finished May which means exactly the same thing to me!

Ive you are incredibly privileged to not understand how much of a symbolism of hell and torture a Christmas tree can represent! Not every one has been that lucky!

Report
IVEgottheDECAF · 01/06/2019 11:08

To be fair that could be said of most things people discuss.

Someone could have had a death in the family because of a horse.

Someone could have had their husband run off with the woman from the local cake shop.

Is all talk aside from dusting banned?

Very sorry for your trauma but think you may need a grip my dear. It was an emoji. I was not talking in depth about my plans for a hearty family christmas nor discussing my planned table decorations. I was simply speculating as we reach the sixth month of the year it wasnt actually that long until christmas. If you dislike my emojis please feel free to ignore them Biscuit

It is the 1st of june which means factually there is more of the year until christmas than since christmas it is now where NEAR christmas at all.

And fine no problem.

Thank you for new thread and May thread! 💐

Just working out whether I’m taking DD to Wembley or DH is. But we also need to go to town for a couple of errands including getting supplies for DD who seems to have started her period at the most inopportune time 😭😭😭 she is absolutely horrified by it despite having plenty of info already, she’s just freaking out 😰 and it’s unfortunate that she’s off to a gig and then sleeping over at her friend’s after. So she needs stuff to be able to deal with it (long term plan is washables as I think they will be less of a problem for her sensory issues but that’s not going to be practical today).

Sorry for TMI am just AAAAARGH and wasn’t expecting this quite yet!
