new sun suits worn on one holiday in cornwall last week, the sand has embedded itself in the fabric and its not come out in the wash. they look mouldy and horrible! thought it would come out on a vigorous spin but its still there. any suggestions on how to remove it greatfully recieved!

I think the only way is to stretch a small piece at a time between your hands and rub it together to get the sand to fall out. Takes forever to do the whole suit and you will just have the same problem immediately they wear them again so don't bother. All the other children on the beach will be just the same so I'm sure there will be no judging!

I wondered (but haven't tried it) if one person could stretch the fabric (freeing the grains of sand), then another get the hoover on it. If you stretch and tap the fabric the sand leaps out, which is why I thought the hoover might be a go-er.

Ponto - that's the only way I've found too - tedious isn't it?

No noooooo!! Don't even think about putting them in the drier. It will ruin 'em!

Let us know how you get on with the hoover. Fwiw, ours always get ingrained with sand too but we haven't really worried about it too much.

Sorry I can't be more helpful
