I just did this and derived WAY more satisfaction than I should have. I need to get out more! Grin

Yes you do... round to my house to do that for me! I just have a shit storm of spices in their original packaging taking up an entire shelf in a cupboard. This is the type of stuff I spend my days drooling over on Pinterest but then walk right past the lovely tubs in shops whilst saying "oh I must get some of those to organise xyz"
.. and never do 🙄

That was me a couple of days ago and now I'm smugly looking at my organised containers (while the rest of my kitchen is in disarray)
But now the question of storage in the cupboard.. alphabetical by colour or by geographical region?!

When I was in Ikea there was a bloke with a blue Ikea bag filled to the brim with Rajtan jars , no idea how many he had but there were a lot .
I'd like to think he was pootling home to re package and arrange his dried herbs and spices in alphabetical order Grin

I with Bricks pop round to mine OP I've organised my fridge and feel very happy about that spices are next - I'll provide a brew ☕️😉

I bought the Ikea spice racks and the little jars and had a wonderful afternoon decanting spice and using the labelmaker. It makes me sigh with joy when I open the cupboard and see them in alphabetical order.

Oh the deliberation I had over "mild chilli powder" being m for.mild or c for chilli!

I see now it has to be "chilli powder, mild". Guess the label maker will be out later!

** disclaimer : the rest of the house is a tip but, not those spices!!

That is a beautiful sight indeed. Our spice collection is somewhat randomly stuffed into one of those little Ikea plywood drawer sets. It sort of works, but you have given me something to aspire to!

That looks lovely, but, if you want on elf the ones off the bottom, do you have to lift the whole teetering pile up to get it out?

Spice organisation bugs the hell out of me, ours are scattered and piled in a variety of containers in a loosely defined area of worktop. It looks like shit frankly, and I’m after the ultimate storage.

Yours looks lovely, (really lovely, if you’re sad for organising them, I’m worse for being envious!) but I think the access problem would do me in quite quickly.

How do you record the use by dates?

I don’t worry too much about use by dates with spices - you tend to know when something has lost its punch.
