Sun bleaching.

Does it work? My son covered all his school shirts in noxious orange and yellow substances during the week and a half we had no washing machine. I’ve soaked, scrubbed, stain-removered (technical term), and there are still marks. I’ve just pegged them out in the sun and it’s oretty much my last hope.

Am I looking at another £50 worth of M&S SEN shirts or will I be a happy beast in a day or two?

I've got baby food & berry (most types) stains out by doing it. Both on entry (vests/tshirts) & exit (edges of terry nappies). So it may well work. I hope the sun stays out for you!

Still bright, and there’s no rain forecast over the weekend, so I’m just going to leave them out until Sunday evening then wash them again. Not got much to lose, unless they get berrycrapped on by one of the massive number of birds that seem to lurk in my garden. :o

Yes it works. May take a few days longer in the low sun/light cloud but it'll work eventually.

I’m going to check them tomorrow and see how they’re faring. I’ve not much to lose if they don’t come clean, he’ll just have to have them as spares for days when there are no unblotchy ones available to him.

I do miss the practical red shirts from his primary school!

Well, two days of reasonable wintery sun has blasted the remainder of the stains away. I’m suitably impressed. I just need to impress on my son the value of keeping his jumper on at lunch time! :o
