Bad news environmentally every time they're washed. Consider reusing rags or buying bamboo cloths.

Can I ask why they're not good to wash Cynderella?

Wow I didn’t know that I will stick to my good old fashioned cotton ones. I was going to buy some so thanks.

Oh that is shit! I like the microfibres as they easy to tell apart from the face washers.
Humm I’ll have to look at some alternatives.

I think bamboo is the way forward, but I expect that'll be an issue soon. I know that it grows quickly (far too quickly in my neighbour's garden) and so it doesn't need the resources that cotton does.

My daughter has taken most of my microfibre cloths and I've given others away - I know that they're still being washed, but it's stopped them buying more and they all clean less than I do.

I use old towels cut up for floor cloths, cleaning the shower etc, but I have bought bamboo cloths for kitchen cleaning.

So now, I have cleaning cloths, floor cloths (old towels), dishcloths, handkerchiefs, bum cloths (instead of baby wipes for granddaughter), cotton napkins ... Last time my husband put washing out and it was a white load, he reckoned it was worse than a load that has all the socks.

Has anybody got a link to the bamboo cloths please or do I go back to the old yellow dusters?

I bought these for kitchen cleaning: www.amazon.co.uk/MR-SIGA-Bamboo-Cleaning-Cloths/dp/B01302S6D2?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

They were £9.99 but have jumped in price. I like them, but they are small and shrink when washed. They feel like microfibre rather than cotton.

These look good: www.amazon.co.uk/Bamboo-Kitchen-Washcloths-Cleaning-Absorbent/dp/B074N31Q1J/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?psc=1&s=kitchen&keywords=bamboo%20cloths&ie=UTF8&qid=1540032288&sr=1-1-spons&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

However, they are expensive and I would rather have a lot of cheap cloths than a few nicer ones because I like to wash them frequently. For general cleaning (not where food's prepared), I'm using bits of old towel and some cotton dishcloths that don't look very nice anymore.

I have a couple of these: www.amazon.co.uk/Mabu-Household-Biodegradable-Cleaning-Cloths/dp/B00E1L9OM4/ref=pd_sbs_201_8?psc=1&pf_rd_t=40701&pd_rd_i=B00E1L9OM4&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_p=18edf98b-139a-41ee-bb40-d725dd59d1d3&_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_wg=71hnL&pf_rd_r=NBR0KJK0CX0WN8A462PZ&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pd_rd_w=Rm93H&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&refRID=NBR0KJK0CX0WN8A462PZ&pd_rd_r=0c13a4e3-d456-11e8-81eb-8b4f7ad445aa&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

They were free with a Lakeland order years ago. They shrunk a lot and didn't really stand up to much wear and tear. They're now used for blacking fireplaces. Wouldn't recommend them.

I tend to look on Amazon because of the reviews, but then check prices on ebay and elsewhere. Sometimes it's hard to see whether they're 100% bamboo. Some are advertised as bamboo, but are % bamboo and % polyester.

Maybe someone will have some recommendations from eco-stores. Personally, I found them more expensive, but there may be clearance bargains somewhere. Hope so!
