Good Morning My Pretties!
So, if you've probably heard of Mrs Hinch the cleaning addict who posts on instagram ect, if you watch day time tv she has been on there.
So, what I am wanting to talk about is obvious... CLEANING?!
I am a stay at home house wife and mummy of one lovely little boy aged 2.
I have lots of time through the day to clean and stuff, ive watched her instagram and read articles on her tips and tricks and some I love and some I hate. I love the astonish products she uses and I also like the cif products, zoflora. But I dont like how much products she actually uses, bleach, harmful chemicals and all those go into the planet and it very harmful to aquatic life ect. She doesnt have children or pets so she doesnt have a clue about how much, mess they actually make. She puts lenor in a bottle and mixes with water and sprays on her bedding and I cant understand what would that do to her skin? Also parents of children following the craze and putting it in childrens bedding and sofas. Ive heard of method and I love the lavender anti bac multi surface, has anyone else got any more eco cleaning products they can recommend? Me and my son have sensitive skin. Thanks :* mammacee

There's a couple other pages you could follow instead teamtomm I think the Instagram is theorganisedmum and ellonokeefe both starting to use less zoflora/chemicals but in a normal not over the top way and that Ellon one is a chemist so she knows her stuff and they are both mums so get it. I've got three boys like them both and one with ASD so more relatable to me than mrshinch

Seconding The Organised Mum, Gem has loads of advice.
Hot soapy water is enough to clean most things. I use my kids old polo shirts for buffing and damp dusting.

Meh from what I’ve seen Mrs Hitch just cleans things that are already clean. She would pass out faced with what Kim and Aggie had to deal with back in the day

The Organised Mum Metho is good - like Flylady routine based but way less preachy

Agree with the above, although she does have a dog.

Tbf she can only clean what's clean because she keeps on top of it in a major way. I'm not a fan of chemicals to that degree though. We use zoflora once a week for a proper clean (kitchen and mop bucket) but I think it's too harsh for everyday and not to be used like some kind of air freshener.

We use whatever multi purpose eco spray is on offer and I haven't really noticed a difference on performance but I do like methods smells generally.

We have me muscle for the shower screen and then method for the bathroom, including their toilet cleaner which seems best but sometimes we do bleach if there's been a bug.

For most things I think hot soapy water works well.

We use microfiber cloths, though I've just read that they are a problem too!

Although it’s from an American perspective, try looking at A Bowl Full of Lemons. The woman who runs that site is very big on natural cleaning products. I love her organisational ideas.

@Almostthere15
I use method in all of my room exept bathroom which I use the cif creme cleaner because it has a fresh lemon scent but thats only once a week, the other days I just use zoflora, for the shower screen I got one of thosethese squigee glass cleaners from wilko and It leaves no stroke marks for after ive scrubbed the water marks and shower gel off the tiles and screen :)
But with the microfibre cloths ive never beena fan because bits come off it, I use a yellow duster and just dishcloths that I can put in a seperate wash, or you can buy recyclable blue roll :) x

@shannonrockallmalin
Ill take a look, thanks for the comment x

I watch in horror how tonnes have jumped on the bandwagon of putting half a bottle of zoflora in hot water so the toxic fumes can be breathed in by everyone in the house. That cannot be healthy.

I use mainly method products which I wouldn't describe as ethical anymore, always have a use for white vinegar and bicarb, lemons (great for putting in water in the microwave on full for four minutes then wipe off any dirt, same in oven, in fridge for smells) and a lot of the same things as Gemma as I follow TOMM. I did try it but really don't get the whole zoflora obsession.

@MammaCee25 I really rate the standard Method bathroom cleaner (not the anti bac). It's one of the best cleaners I've found for cutting through the shower glass water/soap marks - other than neat white vinegar but then it takes a day for the bathroom to stop reeking of vinegar. I like Mrs Hinch, but I do feel like she's now a bit of a 1 (million) woman environmental disaster with the constant chucking of Zoflora down drains and bleach down toilets.

She's an absolute disaster and I think will be a short term wonder. Encouraging people to use gallons of toxic chemicals in vast quantities is not something to be celebrated. And why do they need to go out daily buying cleaning shizzle to stockpile in their cupboards Confused she does have a dog by the way.

I'm in the Team TOMM camp, practical, functional and not consumer driven as much although it can seem that way sometimes. But Gemma is far more environmentally aware and down to Earth.

@minecraftholmes
I love method but I hate the smell of vinegar to the point were it makes me gip, but I put abit of zoflora in a empty antibac bottle and it lasts ages to say I clean most of thethe house with that and the method x

can I just add though, I've jumped on this craze. I suffer with anxiety and depression and my house can seriously suffer. She has really motivated me to try and some of the products she users are actually better to what I was doing before. She's really motivated me.
