Cleaning my washing machine - vinegar and? (Fascinating thread alert)

SneakyGremlins · 13/05/2018 18:39

Just cleaned all the hair off the rim of the washer door

Want to clean the machine itself now, I will nip and buy vinegar - do I need anything else? Or just vinegar, bunged on a 90 wash?

Thanks Smile

I use vinegar to clean the washer, about half a mug full.
It does the job.

That's what I do, usually once a month as I'm in a hard water area.

Soda crystals will give it a good clean inside

I use a dishwasher tablet and run a hit wash.

Really?? I used a washing machine cleaning product. .the tray was grubby and the "roof of where the tray goes was gross!! I'll use vinegar later. Just normal or white?

My detergent goes into the drum, maybe that's why? Smile White vinegar according to google!

I put liquid in the drum for my stuff but powder in the drawer for the kids. Hmm. I'll give the vinegar a go.

Gotta, I have a gross washer drawer and no idea how to clean it! Ideas welcome. Spraying hot vinegar on it? It feels like it needs some kind of paste applied with a toothbrush or something?

My washer drawer gets vile. I take it out and soak it in hot water with washing up liquid and then scrub it with a baby bottle brush that I've had for eons 13 years I use kitchen roll dampened with vinegar to get the black slime off the roof of the drawer.

It's so chuffing awkward to get in the books and crannies too! I soaked the drawer in the sink with some flash type stuff then scrubbed with a toothbrush but it still had some timescale (I think) on it. The roof Bit, impossible to get to all of it even with a toothbrush.

I had a serious issue with gunk; tried vinegar, soda crystals etc but the most effective thing was a dishwasher tablet on a 90c wash.

I put the drawer in the dishwasher and scrubbed the roof of the drawer space with a toothbrush and detergent.
I now take the drawer out after every use and only put it back when I'm using the machine.

I always put my detergent straight in the drum, it does keep the drawer cleaner. Still get the softener gunk though!
