Tons of Dust-wool carpet?

Hi,
So when we had our attic converted into a roof dormer, we had a new carpet on stairs and bedroom, as well as in the little study room before loft stairs. Pretty sure it was either 100% wool or 80/20. However, since then, there has been tons of dust/wool fibres in our room and all down the stair skirtings and round the stair balustrades and in study etc.

It seems to accumulate daily and feels really not clean and fresh without dust. Has anybody else had this and any ideas/carpet stuff I can use to reduce wool fibres?

Even though it’s almost 5 years old, it rapidly fills dyson container every time I vacuum....or maybe I just need to vacuum it a lot more until it clears?

If it's pure wool, it's not as hard wearing as a wool mix. I suspect that the dust/fluff is down to a combination of the carpet, composition and pile type, and the vacuum cleaner. Some upright vacuum cleaner brushes are too harsh for some surfaces. A cylinder vac with a flat head may be better.

It's also possible that there's something not right with the carpet and it's faulty so shedding more fibres than it should.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was 80% wool. I will definitely buy less wool content next time I think.

I remember having a really good 80% wool carpet some years ago. It continually “felted”. However, asked about it in the carpet shop. They asked the carpet rep. I was told that would stop if I used an upright cleaner. I changed to an upright and the problem stopped.

Ah ok. I’m goig to use my dyson and try and do it daily for a while and see if it improves.
