A thread of favourite cleaning products/tips

Some of my fave products are -

Tesco Apple anti bac spray, it’s only about 70p smells really strong and is great for wiping down surfaces
Windolene, it’s the best glass cleaner I’ve tried
Dettol anti bac air freshener, only tried the purple and blue ones. I prefer the scent of the blue but they are really strong and also kill bacteria
Wilko bathroom spray, it just smells really nice and does the job! I clean the toilet and sink with it
Zoflora especially bouquet!

Some of my favourite tips are

Putting tumble dryer sheets in cushion covers to make them smell fresh
Mixing your favourite fabric softener with water in a spray bottle for fabric refresher
Using a lemon to clean the microwave
Wiping neat zoflora on the radiators whilst they are on low, turn them up and house smells amazing
Putting fabric softener and boiling water in the washing up bowl to make the house smell lovely, works well with Zoflora too
Putting a tissue soaked in zoflora in vacuum filter (double check to make sure this is safe with your vacuum!!) to release a nice scent whilst vacuuming
Before vacuuming your mattress sprinkle bicarb on and leave for an hour, it neutralises odours and leaves the mattress nice and soft then hoover off x

Fave products are

Zoflora (of course) - I clean my floor with it as my neighbourhood seems to be covered in dog s**t

Method pink grapefruit anti bac -smells lush

Cif power and shine bathroom spray - smells great and shifts limescale in my hard watered bathroom

Soda Crystals - softens water in washing machine and is much cheaper than Calgon. Clears the moss by my back door.

Tips? I don't think I have any!

Tesco now do an eco range with a pink grapefruit anti-bac spray for £1!

I put some cat litter and a few drops of essential oils in the Hoover bag so it smells nice when DP Hoovers. Also sprinkle a bit in the bottom of the bin to tackle odours.

Vacuum up a handful of the lenor scent boosters to make your vacuum smell amazing.

Wipe neat zoflora/fabric softener/essential oil on radiators. If you regularly dry washing on them, you can just soak the liquid in cotton wool and put on the radiator so it doesn't get on your clothing.

Mix dettol and fabric softener in a spray bottle to use on curtains, carpets and other fabrics that aren't easy to throw in the washing machine. Makes them smell nice and sanitises.

Use a window cleaning spray and wipe only using kitchen roll for completely streak free mirrors, glass furniture and windows.

Any hard toys can be thrown in the washing machine with dettol laundry cleanser on a 15 minute cycle, instead of spending hours cleaning them all.

The dettol antibacterial aerosol sprays can be used on door handles, remotes, phones, switches, wires, plugs, pram handles, bags, purses, taps, keys etc. Literally anything that is used regularly and should be cleaned daily but is a big faff to clean. Just spray and it's done. Probably my favourite ever cleaning product.

I don't know what they are called but it's a tube with a sponge connected. It's used for washing up. You put the liquid in the tube and it runs into the sponge so you've always got product on the sponge. I fill them with toilet cleaner and clean the toilets with them. Really really cheap and the sponges are disposable so you can throw after each use.

The 'shake and vac' carpet powder stuff. I put some in the bottom of my kitchen bin (before the bin liner) and it prevents any smells and soaks up any 'bin gunk'

Use a mop to clean the bath. Especially good for people who have a bad back. I did this when I got to month 8 of pregnancy and wouldn't have been able to get up again if I'd bent down to clean a bath tub!

Have two plug ins, switch them regularly so you don't go nose blind.

Two Milton tablets and a quick wash each month will keep your washing machine happy.

A lint roller is the best thing for getting dust off lampshades.

All oven cleaners work the exact same, I've had ones that are £30+ and one from the pound shop. Both did amazing.

To clean the blender put a cup of water and a drop (literally just one tiny drop) of washing up liquid and blitz for 30 seconds after use. Gets all the sauce off and just needs to be rinsed after that.

Method Anti Bac Wild Rhubarb was a suggestion on here once. I love it so much I clean my kitchen more often now.
I wear old gloves to clean Venetian blinds with my fingers, but I don’t suppose many people have these now.

The Tesco pink grapefruit kitchen cleaner smells just as nice as the Method one and is much cheaper. I also second Cif bathroom cleaner. Might have to try the Wilko one though.

I use the e cloth window cleaning cloths and would never go back to Windolene, I just found it left too many streaks. E cloths are fab, they last ages and are washable.

I've just discovered magic eraser sponges and I'm using them on bloody everything! My loo seats have never been so clean!

I've really gone off Zoflora though, I used to love it but now I just find all the scents really 'chemical' smelling.

You mentioned soda crystals getting rid of moss. How do you use the crystals for this please? Do you just sprinkle them on the moss or add water.... thanks.

It was a while ago but I think I just sprinkled the soda crystals on. After a while the moss went brown and I could then just brush it off with a broom.

If you go on the dri-pak website it should give instructions!

@MajestyRoyal some great tips I use a dishmatic too for washing up and cleaning the toilet (of course a separate one). And cleaning the bath with a mop is excellent idea I’m 6 months pregnant and struggled to do it today! x

princess I get them from Amazon. I think the cloths are about £7 but they last and last, and they're washable up to 90 degrees. There are kitchen and bathroom cloths too which I might invest in. Seriously, they make window cleaning so easy! (And I hate window cleaning! !) The magic eraser sponges are also Amazon but I'm sure I've seen something similar in places like Savers and B&M.

I need this thread! Trying to eradicate any sources of kitchen smells that may be compounding the effect of a crap cooker hood. Anyone use cleaning products on their dishwasher? Any tips for keeping food waste caddies from smelling? I’m experimenting with white vinegar for lots of things - quite pleased with it in place of fabric softener with essential oils but daughter is unconvinced!

Sticking any used half lemons you might have in the washing machine when you do the dishes. Makes them shiny and the smell is wonderful.

’Sspxx I used to swear by Windowlene but NO the best window cleaner is Method. It’s a blue spray in a clear plastic bottle. It’s awesome.
