Playing football inside the house

My 10-year-old nephew can't stop kicking footballs inside the house. He LOVES football, and showing us his football tricks all around, doing it Ronaldo style! We have a bit of garden space where he plays sometimes, but then suddenly we hear the kick of the ball in the hallway/kitchen/living room/watching the telly. It's like he can't be separated from the ball no matter what he does, and sometimes brings the dirty shoes in...Anyone else out there with a related problem? Any "inside football" remedies you use or recommend like softer balls/ football shoes before we lose all our ornaments? Thank you!

My remedy would be NO FOOTBALL INSIDE. EVER.

Take the balls off him - at 10 he’s old enough to know you don’t kick footballs inside!!

I have a blanket ban on football in the house. Footballs only live outside. Any inside foot ball using anything as a ball is a punishable offence. Harsh but I was fed u of things breaking

No footballs or rugby balls allowed in the house

Just no!

Repeat offenders would be rewarded with a bread knife to their football.

He CAN stop - he's just doing it because you LET him. Hmm

Balls are outside items here. End of story. As the adult my rules stand.

If you have a decent stretch of hard flooring you can get a hover football which stays on the ground, no use on carpet or outdoors though.

Unless he has SN then he can definitely stop kicking footballs in the house. My 10 year old is surgically attached to his football but it gets left on the back door step when he comes in the house. His muddy boots also get taken off and left on the doorstep or just inside the door on the doormat if it is raining. It's called parenting and whilst he is not your child if he is at your house then you set the rules.

Don't let him play football inside, that is ludicrous! Take away the ball!

Dd has always played with a football inside. The thud gets annoying when she is in a bad mood, but she knows to keep it within limits and she has never broken anything. She is the kind of kid who can’t stop moving and needs to be doing something. Happy as anything with a ball, grumpy without, so we chose the former.

Just say no. Never known anyone who was allowed to play with a ball inside. They are outdoor toys for a reason.

Had three footballers ...they were NEVER allowed to play football in the house.
I would threaten to puncture it. You would only do it once.
Who is the adult here?

My dd was/is netball mad. Blanket ban on all balls in the house. Even soft ones knock things over. It's not just the breakage, the bang, bang, bang and the ball going up and down in the corner of your eye, or zooming past your head. Absolutely no chance was that going on inside. Just chuck the ball in the garden and shut the door. He'll follow it out if he wants to play with it.
