I have had a vax cordless since moving house last year but the rotating head gets clogged up with hair. And I'm looking for something more powerful to do all the carpet upstairs, downstairs is all wooden floor. The cordless is fine for a quick scoot round picking up crumbs.

So something that can deal with hair and has quite a long lead but isn't too expensive.

Miele Cat and Dog. Good for hair, powerful but also quite light and easy to manoeuvre. I have carpet upstairs, wood downstairs and it works well on both.

Dirt devil.
Got mine from the market around a year or so ago. Better than my mum's shark and Dyson!
Cost me £20

I have a Henry Plus and it deals with the fur of two dogs very well!

Sebo X4 Pet. We don't have pets but the boost button is great on deep pile carpets and high traffic areas.
