Has anyone gone for a cordless vacuum cleaner?

I really fancy a cordless one but don't trust online reviews these days. Looking for something lightweight and quiet besides being good, obviously. Any real, not paid for recommendations?

We bought the Dyson Motorhead last week. It was on special in Curry's. We love it. It will be used more than the big Dyson.

I have a Dyson stick vacuum. It is attached to my front room wall and it gets used all the time. I never used to vacuum now the kids do it lol.
It is not quiet but gets the job done fast.

I have a Bosch Athlet I got in a black Friday deal last year. It's nice and convenient but changing the fittings is an arse and you do have to remember to recharge.

Also have a very basic Morphy Richards with no accessories which whizzes round hard floors very nicely. Watch the run times though. They are never as long as claimed and running out of power in the middle of what you're doing is

I bought a Dyson v7 animal a few months ago
It was on offer at £219

I LOVE it! I haven’t used the big hoover since, nor the dustpan and brush. It is so easy to use and can do the whole house on one charge

I have the Dyson Animal V8. Ridiculously expensive, but I love it! It makes hoovering so much easier, it’s powerful and the battery life is excellent. Easy to empty, and very easy to clean the filters. We got it from curry’s when it was on offer earlier this year, but can’t remember exactly how much now.

There is an official eBay dyson shop where they sell refurbed models at a discount, but still with a good warranty - we almost bought from them, only went new due to the offer on at Currys!

We have a Gtech thing...it is BRILLIANT. But you do need a hand held as well to get into the corners, do stairs, etc. (we got both). It is, without a doubt, the best vacuum cleaner I have ever used.

I have just got the Dyson V8 Animal - absolutely love it!

It’s plugged in on the wall all the time & I can can just grab it, whizz it round & job done in minutes - was a pain in the arse before, lugging my old hoover round & swapping the plug from socket to socket.

I read loads of reviews before I got it, no regrets at all!

My mum has also just bought the GTech as she was finding her Dyson too heavy. When I first saw it I thought it was a toy but it is fab and she loves it. It doesn't take up much space at all. She has also got the handheld bit for the stairs etc. She is very impressed with it.

We have a V6 I think. It’s amazing. Scrapped my heavy old Miele upright. I definitely hoover a lot more as it’s so convenient.

I love my Dyson V6 (I'm not in the UK and they only recently started selling the V8 here after I'd bought mine).

It's indispensable with little kids - I can just wizz round the downstairs in a couple of minutes to get rid of their stray crumbs! It wouldn't get done if I had to lug out the full sized Dyson each time.

I've got an AEG cordless one - the removable part is fab for the stairs and furniture, and it's surprisingly lightweight and powerful on carpets but the only downer is that the battery takes 5 hrs to charge..... you have to use it on full power, and it lasts around 20 minutes so I can get the ground floor done but not the whole house. I'd go for one that has a spare battery tbh if you use it a lot. It's much easier than getting our heavy old Dyson out on a daily basis.

I've got the shark one that folds in half so you can do under the coffee table etc without bending down. Came with 2 batteries so one is on charge while one in use. It's really good. Much better than my dyson cordless. Works on carpet and hard floors and has a boost function. Comes with a range of attachments too and is very light. To store it you fold it in half and it free stands.

Ive recently bought a Vax one in the recent sale, down from £199 to £49. It's okay, the suction isn't as good as my corded Hoover. It's reminiscent of a carpet sweeper really, just swipes the top surface and doesn't really get down in the pile. It's great on hard floors and at getting the dog hairs up off the tiles in the kitchen. It can't replace my traditional cleaner unfortunately.

I have a Dyson & it's light, convenient & great for cleaning under things & in awkward spaces. If it broke I'd buy another just because of convenience but I don't think it does as good a job as the upright corded Hoover.

I have the cordless dyson it is brilliant great for the house and car!

I have the dyson v8 absolute and haven't been overly impressed, it has to be on full power to really pick stuff up which means the power runs out really quick, it also gives me a blister everytime I use it, and I'm only talking 5 minutes at a time, I do have very sensitive skin though. Much prefer my miele but the cordless dyson is useful for the stairs, car and cobwebs.

We have a Dyson V something- the animal hair one! We also have a Gtech. Both are good- but especially the Dyson.

Sadly, despite their marvels, with both machines, I have to attack the roller thingy with nail scissors every couple of weeks to cut all of my hair out of it 🙄 I have long, thick hair and for some reason lose a lot of it (whilst not appearing to lose any from my head, if that makes sense 😂)

Anyway, I digress: I recommend the Dyson! They ARE pricey, but they’re really good machines.
