Well, tidying, cleaning, generally unfucking my home Grin I’ve no major commitments today or tomorrow so trying to frame taking care of my environment as a self-care task and get my butt in gear. I’ve found posting on MN cleaning threads before give me a motivational boost and a better sense of achievement!

Right, first, I’m going to put the washing up in to soak and empty cat litter trays. Then clear any random crap off the floor so Roomba can start doing his business.

Anyone else? Get off your arse and hop to it! Grin

Well that took me a lot longer than is reasonable. Mainly because I got sidetracked reorganising my bulk toilet roll stash (stored next to th cat litter) and then deciding I needed to order more cat litter and going online to do so and getting sucked back into MN BlushAngry

Anyway Roomba is now —chasing cats— beetling around happily, I’m going to gather up all the dirty clothes, put a load of laundry on and do the washing up. After that I think taking the rubbish & recycling out will be next.

Laundry - on
Washing up - done
Rubbish & Recycling - sorted

Sidetracked again as washing up & laundry liquids are low so I topped them up from the bulk supplies and noticed a few things are low so got ordering again which led me back here again...... starting to see my downfall. I don’t mind that I’m prattling to myself here, I feel I have to do things once I’ve written them down publicly!

Next - tidy & straighten front room, some of the throws may need to go in the laundry next I think. Then rehome all the orphaned objects hanging around in the hallway, they need to be either put away or thrown away. Final task of the next subset will be to strip the bed and put fresh sheets on I think, and then set Roomba to work upstairs.

After that, probably lunch!

So I managed I complete the last 3 tasks, got to lunch at which point DP turned up for the weekend, and did comment on how bright and clean the place was looking Smile and we had a nice afternoon walking the dog, visiting my allotment, then cleaning out the fridge before going to Tesco to stock up on fresh stuff. He’s now cooking dinner whilst I sit on the sofa in my newly pristine living room with a glass of wine, dog snoozing at my feet, cats curled up around here somewhere. Was worth the effort this morning, I feel mentally at ease now. Need to remember that household ‘chores’ are in effect self care for the result they have!

Tomorrow I’d really like to deep clean the bathroom, and tidy my dressing room (sounds vah posh I know, it’s just the box room next to the bedroom).

Good on you bluecity for getting the beds and laundry done. Bet the bedrooms all feel much nicer for it.

I hate hoovering - hence my over reliance on trusty Roomba, he’s not quite enough though, ok for everyday keeping on top of pet hair and random debris but I really could do better by doing a proper hoover more often as well, in all the corners and behind stuff etc. And the stairs Shock I try not to look lol. DP quite likes hoovering though so once he’s here full time I’m hoping that task will go on his list!

Well done OP for what you achieved! I always dread the cleaning but feel lots better when it’s done!
You’ve inspired me to go downstairs and put a load of washing in!
Good luck for today’s jobs.
