Puddle at bottom of fridge

Cyclewidow46 · 06/10/2017 12:40

Every few days a puddle of water collects at the bottom of the fridge under the pull out drawer where I keep veg.
Does anyone know why this happens?
I always forget and get wet when I pull the drawer out.
Is the fridge set too low? Too high? I've no ideaConfused

Somewhere near the bottom of the fridge on the inside (above the salad box in my fridge) is a small hole which water should drain out off.
Get a chop stick or skewer and poke it through to remove the gunk that is blocking it.

You should have a little hole at the back of the fridge. It might be blocked so the water has nowhere to go. I usually stick a cotton bud in mine & wriggle it around, not sure if that's the best idea but it seems to work.

We had an overflow thing in the back of the fridge, basically any moisture runs down to a little hole. I think mine got blocked with something so started having a little puddle but just poked it with something and it stopped.
Hopefully that makes sense.

I've got that happening at the moment. I have tried poking something down the hole but still a bit of water behind the box. I read that nothing should touch the back of the fridge as that's where it does it's ice/melt thing. This is hard to monitor due to other people just pushing stuff in!

Thanks for your replies.
I've seen the little hole at the back of the fridge and often wiggle something around in there to make sure it's not blocked but the puddle still happens.
Think I'll have to try and make sure nothing touches the back too, which as a pp has already mentioned, is easier said than done!

Agree with PP about something touching the back of the fridge! So easy to do though.

A pipe cleaner (usually found in kids craft kits) poked through hole at back and wiggled around can clean out lots of gunk. Solved the issue when I had it.

Check your drain and check nothing is touching the frost plate at the back.

Check the back of the fridge (behind the actual fridge - outside) that the water can actually drain to somewhere so there isn't a blockage back there.

Also make sure that the fridge is levelled so that it tips back slightly (so the water goes to the hole).

I know about unblocking the hole but how does having something touching the back cause a problem?

Have same problem with our fridge freezer except we also have ice under the salad tray now. Think it is a combination of the rear not draining properly and freezer needing defrosting.
