Anyone have a cheap Robot Hoover?

Does anyone have a cheaper robot Hoover that they would recommend?

I would love one but don't want to spend hundreds in case it's one of the million gadgets I buy then never use.

I had a Vileda one, I called her Julia. She was so happy pottering round our wooden sitting/dining room and our tiled kitchen.

Then I got cocky thinking £100 of vacuum could cope with upstairs, long hair and a carpet that sheds more than the dog (it's new).

She stopped working. No amount of cleaning got her to work again for more than a few mins.

I had to return Julia 😥

I dream one day of having a Roomba but DH says it would be cheaper to just get a cleaner.

at £200 it is pricey but cheaper than a lot of them, but it is great on carpets, can do a spot clean and can find it's dock when it has finished.

I really love my roomba

My house has never been so clean.

We got a roomba 620 2 years ago for 200 pounds, it was the cheapest roomba model available then. We love it, no way we'd stay on top of cleaning without it now we have kids. With it being the basic spec it can't do multiple rooms so we have to shut it in one room at a time, but it does a good enough job. The 620 isn't available anymore but the 605 mentioned above looks identical in terms of what functionality it has.

I have a vileda that was about £80 in lidl's aisle of pleasure a few months ago. He's great for tiles- i put it on a one hour timer and it does all the hall, kitchen, etc. We have quite deep grout lines and it is pretty good at getting into those. It can't do carpets.

I use it as a sort of stop gap, mid week sort of clean rather than my main clean if that makes sense? Also if there's anything too dirty or greasy on the floor then it will smear it round so can make a mess, and it can't do edges, I have to brush everything into the middle of the area. Still cleans better than Dh though.

We have an eBay Neato Botvac. He's great (Mr Hoover). Unfortunately, they don't tidy up for you. He needs rescuing periodically as he gets himself stuck, trying to climb up chests of drawers and so on. I think of him a bit like a dim, but helpful, tortoise.
The vacuuming is actually really good. Dirt box needs emptying after every room, but that only takes seconds.

I bought the basic £200 Roomba from Appliances Direct recently too. I love it, it's amazing! Wanders from room to room nicely and everything. Totally worth it imho. I used to have a Neato, which I really liked, but this is even better.

You could always try before you buy (well kind of) QVC do returns even if you have used it.

I like the idea of them but was really put off when I read what happens if your animal has took a dump in a room it's cleaning. Maybe I'll try post cat

I have a cheaper version - can't remember what brand it is, I'm afraid - but it is abso-bloody-lutely useless.

It can't be left unsupervised in the front room, because it gets caught under the TV stand, and sits there whirring and overheating. Ditto the dining room, where it gets caught on the rug, whirrs and overheats. It is reasonably useful in the kitchen and utility room, but only if I move everything out - bins, veg rack, stools from round the kitchen table etc - and even then it misses the corners. It is supposed to be able to navigate back to its charging station when the battery is nearly flat, but even if you put it right next to the charging station, it can't find it.

And I have never yet seen the cat riding on it - so it has no entertainment value either.
