Can anyone with painted floorboards tell me how you keep them clean?!

Just like the title really, we have white painted floorboards, which I hoover and mop, but there seem to be sort of greyish scuff marks everywhere. Could I use a steam cleaner? Do I just need to get on the floor and scrub? Any help greatly appreciated!

I had greyish paint, artfully scuffed. Fresh white paint is asking for trouble!

Thank you! I will try a swiffer, and Ecover floor cleaner, with the last resort to paint them grey (which I wouldn't mind, apart from the faff of actually painting).
