biscuit beetle

so after the nightmare of going through about 3 weeks of thinking I had a woodworm problem on my hands, I have now heard back from the council that we have biscuit beetle. The treatment for which seems to be juts to clear out the food source (in this case dried pasta) and give the place a good hoover.
Has anyone else got any experience of dealing with it. Is this sufficient?
thanks

no it isn't. Sorry.....

You need to empty the cupboards, hoover them inside in all the cracks etc and then wipe with diluted bleach. Then you need to be ruthless about what goes back. Everything loose has to be bagged in plastic/tubs/boxes etc, that's pasta, flour, cereals etc. NOTHING in the cupboard that is in a paper bag. Wipe all the tins etc. Then keep a close eye on everything and be ruthless about chucking anything iffy. Mine were a bugger to get rid of.

Or move house [helpful]

A pest controller said that you often get them due to cheap flour sold in supermarkets. As advised by the pest controller I sprayed the cupboards with fly spray.

Never totally eradicated them so moved house in the end.

Now try to never have flour or rice in the house.

I later moved house.

I didn't want to spray poisons ( mine were brought in via dried peppers from Spain). I chucked them out (obviously) and I think we may have chucked any opened packets out too but didn't spray or go too extreme.

They won't harm you - just keep dry goods in containers and give the cupboard a clean. I'm not sure bleach will do anything. You can freeze stuff to kill them off - they are often present in things and you just never see the adults develop. Sorry, that's probably freaked a few people out.

Yes wowfudge. When I was freaking out about the fact that I had probably consumed them, the pest controller said I had just gotten some extra protein Shock.

Bit extreme to move house though!
