Vax Carpet Cleaner. Any good?

Our carpets need a bit of a clean. Was thinking of getting a professional company in, but then saw you can buy a Vax for only about £60.

Are they any good?

I have had 2 or 3 Vax cleaners over the last 10 years or so - yes very good.

Never had the £60 one, is it like a "light"/smaller version of the standard ones?.

My current one is THIS. I like it and cleans carpets up great (can also be used on stairs and upholstery too as has a hose attachment).

Yes very good, beware though carpets take a bit longer to dry

Thanks.

The one I saw for about £60 was in Asda, but I think it was some kind of special offer? You then paid separately for the cleaning fluid.

How long for the carpet to dry?

With my machine, I walk on pretty much after an hour (I do walk on barefoot though, so there isn't dirt being added from shoes - don't wear shoes in the house anyway, and my feet get slightly wet, but not sopping). Carpet will be dry enough for full use from about 6-8 hours. Completely dry overnight.
