I have a couple of dark marks where Ds has spilt his squash, has been blotted but left and I can't shift it? I have vanish carpet cleaner and that has done nothing. What else could work please??

Cold water and a bit of Stardrops? Is it somewhere where sunlight gets to it? You'll be surprised how much sunlight, even through a window, can fade stains.

Stardrops?? What's that? Yes the sun gets to it but have been there ages and it looks really dirty?

Stardrops is an all purpose cleaner. You just use it a bit like washing up liquid in water. It is great for cleaning carpet and upholstery. Home Bargains and supermarkets sell it. It's cheap but effective.

Iv not seen that and don't have a home bargains anywhere near me.

Anything else? Iv read about baking soda but it's an old stain not new so don't think it would work?

Napisan! make it up into a bit of a paste and scrub, leave for a while and then rinse off.

Have you tried washing up liquid on it? I use it on stains on dc's clothes and it usually works a treat

Vanish Power shot - fantastic stuff. It's got all sorts out of my carpets - most of which I have no clue what it was to start with.

I've used vanish laundry powder on a cream carpet after red wine was freshly spilt. It was like magic, no sign of the stain was left and the carpet was cleaner than ever. Dilute to a paste, scrub, then rinse as thoroughly as you can.

Iv tried vanish oxi action spray and that's not done anything. Vanish used to make a spray on an aerosol and that would've worked but can't find that anywhere? Has anyone seen that?

For carpet stains I use Dettol diluted in warm water, dabbed on stain with microfibre cloth. Then wring out same cloth and gently rub to get stain out.

Have changed to Zoflora lately (family prefer the nicer smell) and it works just as good (if not better) than Dettol.

The last stain was dog sick on cream carpet, with Zoflora it went first go at it.

I think that's the powershot I was talking about OP.
I find it hard to track down, but usually the larger supermarkets have it. If I see it somewhere I usually get one 'just in case'!

I used watered down Milton, got rid of a mustard stain on my carpet.

Vanish power foam is excellent. Rub it in. Allow to dry and vacuum out. With stubborn stains do it once or twice more and it'll be totally gone.
