Are you are any of the following? Can you be described as a clutterbug? Are you a hoarder, in a mess, untidy, disorganised, lazy with housework that has lead to something that you now feel unable to deal with. If you are ill and not coping with the housework. If you are emotionally attached to items for whatever reason. If you cannot just ask someone in for a cuppa at a moments notice or dread the meter reader asking for access.
Are you nodding whilst reading any of these words? If you have a combination of any or all of these things or something completely different, please join us. No one here will judge you. We have something in common and we have a common goal. We share our ideas and we share our disappointments no matter how big and our celebrations no matter how small. We cheer one another along and drag the drowners from the depths of despair.

Join us; we don't bite :) Welcome to thread number 3.

Thanks for the new thread Solo

I am going to the tip tomorrow..mainly because my car is full of rubbish !

Then doing laundry. Basic cleaning downstairs and then an hour in the little girls room.

Now I have written it down, I will have to do it ! I will report back tomorrow. :)

Congratulations to both the pregnant ladies from the last thread :)

Thanks very much for the welcome on the last thread @MissPoogy, @Cagliostro and @Solo.

I like the idea of an 'I don't know' box. It would probably be a nice interim way of figuring out how much I actually cared about something.

This week I am planning to tackle the first bag of clothes. It seems like a manageable first step. I literally have about a quarter of my bedroom (a corner) filled up with bag and boxes from when we moved in a year ago. It's mostly baby stuff, unimportant filing/papers, and clothing I don't actually wear.

After walking to school with this chest infection and looking ill enough for two teachers to comment on it, I came home and did basic housework only. Only the stuff I missed at the weekend.

Tried to take car load of rubbish to tip but car battery was flat.

Felt too unwell to do little girls room..so overall a big fail on my task list.

Have done three loads of washing.
Did hang up one load of washing and one to do in a minute and one still in the machine.

The children's new pink velvet hangers arrived from Amazon and I love them, as do the little girls.

I hated my collection of plastic hangers so bought some black velvet ones for us last month. I love them, clothes don't slip off them and they are so narrow the empty hangers don't take up much space.

So this month I bought the little girls ones.

Now I have to decide what to get for my oldest two kids next month. It would be easier to just get loads of pink ones but they might prefer blue or white. That might be more hassle when I am doing laundry.
So I might just say everyone has to have pink. It is my DS's favourite colour anyway, so I don't think I am being too mean :)

Lovely sunny day.

How are you feeling Babies ?

No better no worse. Very tired as I am not sleeping and breathing still difficult.

Yesterday I found a nit on my youngest (just one massive one) as I was doing her hair for school. I nitty gritted her hair and took all the kids to school on foot again, as my car is broke atm.

I had an appointment at the local hospital for a chest xray. So I had to bus both ways, it took me 3 hours to do a 20 min journey and waiting outside in the cold is making my chest hurt more and feel tighter.

Then I had to walk to get nit treatment for the family. My friend had volunteered to pick my kids up which was lovely.

Then nit treatment and showers all around and early bed. Leaving my DH to deal with the Asda Food delivery.

Today. I still feel the same. Teachers are worrying about me. But I am not ill ill, just out of breath, I still have to do things.

This morning I hoovered and mopped downstairs as it really needed it.
Sorted out two loads of laundry (minimum I need to do, to keep on top of it)
Refilled litter tray but DH is going to drag all the bins outside for me later.

I am dreading the school run, as the cold makes things worse. I have to make tea and get one daughter and her friend to Rainbows...I actually asked my DH to get home early if he can.

I am back to the doctors tomorrow for xray results. I just want to breath again. At least I finish all the pills tomorrow. Steroids and antibiotics and my gall bladder pills...shake me and I rattle.

Short answer. ..feeling sorry for myself.

But the house is ok in sections. Honestly I would currently show my mum the bathroom, kitchen, living room, dining room and big kids room atm !

I am not mentioning or looking at little kids room, our room or hall stairs and landing which are currentlying a massive disaster!

How is it impossible to clear one room without filling up two others !

Jellyfish welcome back. I must forget I get confused with new names sometimes.

I didn't realise you kept name changing because of your DH ? Does he read your posts ? Or do just prefer to name change regularly anyway ?

This will hopefully be last name change babies.

He doesn't like the forum and I've posted things about us before that are unique hence the name changes. He saw me type under last one which is why I've changed that

Right added attic to my name then no confusion. Now no more :)

How is everyone else doing on decluttering? I've been working late all week plus doing bits of overtime here and there so have barely kept on top of day to day.

I haven't been doing anything as DP has been off so we went to the Yorkshire wildlife park and then around Manchester- first days out in ages.

I'm now really annoyed as I think I have an eye infection or similar as my eyes are really dry and itchy and I can't wear my contacts so might need to go to out of hours and get seen.

FlyingJellyfishintheAttic · 31/03/2017 10:48

is hopefully going to finofinoshmptying storage today and tomorrow so at least that is money saved each month. Most of it is for charity too.

Need to organise dd birthday as it's only a nonth away and doing a lot of overtime soon.

Also sort new fridge freezer delivery as ours broke 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for the new thread! 💐
Haven't got anywhere with decluttering really, although the Caglets had a little attempt the other day (a few outgrown clothes and broken Transformers)

I ended up buying yet more little hangers for the kids and spent all morning creating a big bag of hangers to throw and all our stuff is on pretty hangers. A small thing but makes me smile.

I am on version two of the antibiotics, let's hope they work. I need a full nights sleep and to be able to breath properly again !

I am having a sit down to catch my breath and then upstairs to hang out a load of laundry. Don't think I will get much more done today, I just don't feel up to it.

But I have a date with my little two girls and their toys tomorrow in their room....We will get sorting.

I have 9 days off! I fully intend to do a lot! I have my new washing machine booked for delivery next Friday after changing the delivery date twice already! Blush So I definitely can't rebook again! I have sciatica since Thursday and I'm really hoping it doesn't stop me getting on with stuff. I also hope no one tries to tempt me out to lunch or the like as the one treat afternoon/evening will be to the cinema with Dd.

So only 1-2 trips left to storage and space on eaves for it too.

Plan is for one set of eaves to be general storage and rest of room with other set of eaves to be for the bedroom. Because it looks like we are fitting everything into eaves on our side it means we can get on with conversion, reallocating bedrooms then finally re-homing everything.

Will take time of course but it's such a relief it's coming together!

Sounds really good Attic you must be so pleased! My big problem is storage space! And being as I keep almost everything, that's a massive problem for me! So I'm a bit Envy of your eaves!

I was out for most of the day, but I did sort out some of the kitchen and do 3 loads of washing! Emptied and refilled the dishwasher which will go on after dinner tomorrow. Hand washed up all pans and put away some of the crap accumulating on the draining board.

Well done Solo! :)

Yes storage does make things so much easier and I'm hoping eaves will be enough. I'm sure it will for now as we are being ruthless but we shall see.

Anywhere you can put in storage at all Solo?

I'm working 12.5 hours today so will not be doing anything and really heavy week the next two weeks (between normal hours and overtime two days off in next two weeks) which is fine need the money. So if I can at least finish tidying, DD clothes, paperwork and general housekeeping will be happy. Priority is time with DD.

Report
Solo · 02/04/2017 13:42

I already use a storage place, but it's very expensive and I only took it out for a short time whilst work was done on the house. It's been well over 2 years now!

I hope your time with Dd is good :)

I know it's rubbish how pricey storage is. At least I'm getting hubby on board with decluttering now. We have five plus versions of different board games so need to start decluttering that.

Report
CheshireChat · 03/04/2017 19:15

I haven't really done much other than keep on top of day to day stuff so at least laundry and pots are covered, just need to fold the dry clothes and put them away. DP brought down the wardrobe and put it in the same room and critically on the same floor as the dryer so that will be much, much easier.

There's so much to tidy, but I'm ignoring it for now.

Are any of you planning a spring clean before Easter?

I'm trying to get a spring clean in, but it needs a spring sort out and declutter first!
This evening I have been sorting a bit out in the sitting room; it is looking like I've done something! Much more to do though.

I think stuff expands to fill all spaces including storage :(

The only way I can stop stuff piling is to clear somewhere and then remove the storage item too !

I have not done much recently, still have this virus and it makes me tired. The kitchen & bathroom are still fine but the living room is failing.
Going to take it easy today and just get living room done and rest and try and get well.
