New Vacuum cleaner required, don't know what to try next!

Currently have two dysons, one old pull along and a newer upright, both done a reasonable amount of service. Both have given up the ghost. Bought a new Vax upright but its been put together with spit and is going back as it won't now remain upright. Can anyone recommend something suitable for small 4bed house with carpets upstairs and wood floor downstairs? I am really disappointed about the Vax as it was powerful and light and although it did feel really flimsy. Many thanks!

G Tech Air Ram is the best vac I've ever used, also need the Multi-tool handheld for all manner of nooks, crannies and high/hard to reach places.

Are your dysons old or still covered under your 5 year warranty? I only mention it because their cover is really good. But when mine finally dies I'll be looking at miele and sebo.

Second Miele. Or Sebo. Both expensive but worth it

I have a Shark. I just love it. I vacuumed with my Dyson, went over it with my Shark and the amount of dirt it picked up was huge.

It makes me really quite excited. Confused

Miele. Not cheap, but really good.

Miele. They are much cheaper than dyson.

My cleaner has also bought one for her own house after using mine and has got 4 of her clients to buy one for her for when she does their house

Sebo Felix or a Miele. Don't get bagless - the suction isn't as good.

I've just abandoned my Dyson for a Miele. It was cheaper and the suction is vastly better, and loads quieter too! I'm very happy with it.

DM has switched to Shark from Dyson. Having seen it in action, I'm tempted myself might have to sabotage my Dyson first though.

I've got a Miele C3 Complete and I think it's fantastic. Has different settings on the Turbo head for carpet/hard floors and many others. Easy to use and has the most fantastic suction on it. Would buy another in a heartbeat.

I have the new dyson animal cinetic big ball cylinder. No maintenance. No filter to clean. Easy to empty a d is nust amazing.

Had various vax machines over the last 10 years. This knocks their socks off

I can second the recommendations for a Miele. Very good machine. However, when mine dies I will be trying out a Bosch Athlet upright, which is cordless. In fact, I may push my Miele down the stairs to hasten its demise because I so love the idea of having no cord. Re Dyson - never again. I think they are vastly overrated.
