Right - there's a lot of wasted space in the cupboard. How about one or two of those metal shelf inserts and putting the spices into little baskets. Mine are roughly arranged in groups: herbs in one, baking spices in another, general spices in another, curry spices in another.

Or you could hang a large spice rack on the inside of the door. There was one poster who had magnetic paint on the inside of the cupboard door and metal containers stuck to it by the lids. Alternatively, if you have the drawer space, there are various drawer inserts.

Ooh, both inserts and metallic paint sound exciting...

Any chance of a picture of yours?

Thanks for the helpful reply.

The picture I showed is the knee level cupboard. Here's pic of the eye level cupboard that would be their ideal home

I have mine on a 20cm lazy Susan. I love storing stuff on spinny things they are so accessible and fit my narrow wall cupboards brilliantly.

I keep mine in a small plastic crate with lid which fits under a wire shelf extender so I can store stuff "on top" without having to move it every time I need the spices. Having them in a crate means I only need to get one thing out of the cupboard and the jars don't all fall over.

I keep mine in a drawer, slightly overfilled at present. I have various back of kitchen door hangers that are very useful - you can get very slim spice ones.

You can get a nice plastic insert for your spice drawer from IKEA, makes all the little jars lay very neatly. If you are a bit obsessive like that. Wink

I've sorted my spice cupboard out today too. Turned out that 30% of them were well out of date. Worse was a jar of ground cumin (best before Oct 2011)

I think it's really important to be able to fit different shapes and sizes....
Am thinking the IKEA one would not suit square/upright ones...
