Hello all and welcome to the March Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier. Jump in where you are.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others :).

Since last month seemed to be ok I'll follow the same format of personals throughout the day (or in the evening if I haven't had a chance in the day) and links in the evening. Please, though, let me know if you want me to change anything or if I have posted anything wrong.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks again SC and Cotswold as I have basically copied your notes again.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website //www.flylady.net - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

You can post what we you done (ta das) and any to do lists if you want to- I definitely find this helpful.

Here is the daily summary for Wednesday...

All information also available on the Flylady website //www.flylady.net. The
flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 1 this week: the entrance, front porch and dining room

Spend 15 mins (or as much as you can manage if you can't do 15) decluttering in Zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, (I am jealous!) the detailed cleaning list for Zone 1 is here

The mission for the day is:-

We are going to have a multi room mission today, it might take you longer than 15 minutes to do it, so set your timer for each room and FLY through it!
For the Front Porch, Entrance and Dining Room, put out the fires that are burning in your hot spots. Get rid of the pile of shoes by the front door, get rid of the pile of junk mail and put away the magazines and school papers that are piled on the dining room table.

The daily focus for Wednesday is: anti-procrastination
Essential although I often procrastinate about this ;)

Daily reminders reminders (radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)

Baby-step no 1 - shine your sink
Flylady says this is essential. I personally don't stress too much about this as when I did it felt as if I was always failing at it. I try to keep the area around the sink relatively tidy instead. I also find making my bed a more effective motivator. Each to their own :)

Flykids mission:
We are going to do what is called a Hot Spot Fire Drill!
This is when we look around our rooms at the flat surfaces of our furniture. The desk, the dresser and the nightstands. These are the places that we will just pile things on instead of throwing them away or putting them away. These are the hot spots.
To help us clean these places up we are going to do a fire drill! We are going to set a timer for 5 minutes and see how much and can throw away and put away off of those Hot Spots!

Ready.. set.... GO!!
Your rooms will look neat when your flat surfaces are clear.

Happy flying.

So far I've managed to get up and dressed...

I've got a couple of gym classes booked (making the most of it before work starts), a dress to return, forms to drop off at school, and crochet to do.

I'm also going to follow the flylady plan more closely and see how that goes.

Ta das
Dishwasher emptied and back on
Rubbish out to bins
Quick tidy up

I'm now in soft play hell. There is a woman on the sofa next to me reading a book and drinking tea. How is this possible? My dd is not shy but she wants me to play too and she has such short legs she gets stuck halfway up quite often. At what point will I be allowed to sit and read a book here??!

I need to reread what the mission is today as already forgotten but will try and do it today as failed yesterday and didn't do the decluttering either oops. House is a bit of a mess tbh.

How's everyone got on? I've had a productive day with some nice bits and I'm having a small rest and a brew before dinner. We're doing pancakes because we were both too tired yesterday!

I did the mission and the porch, hallway (I'm definitely counting mine as part of this zone afreshstart so you should carry on feeling smug!) and dining room mission and they look great. I currently have the pile of clutter in front of me so that needs sorting and putting away. I've bought some daffs for St David's day.

Ta da's
Gym (ouch already)
Dropped forms off
Mini shop
Lovely lunch and newspaper reading time (we'll gloss over the fact the crochet I was going to do was on the dining room table)
Removed porch, hall and dining room clutter

To do
Rehome clutter
Dinner
One more form!

Well I'm sure you look like a very beautiful hamster zoo 😂 Poor lil Zoo though, how disappointing :(

Hope everyone waiting for secondary places has got the place they need!

I count the hallway for this zone because we don't have a porch :o or much of a hallway TBH it's tiny.

Nice day here - DSS' birthday so he was round for lunch cake and games! Lots of laundry sorted (not put away yet though!) bit of tidying in between resting, trying to get the place less horrible! Another lesson at 8 so earning my keep today. :o Did some project stuff with the Caglets as well.

Hello all, thanks for the nice comments about the thread 😊. Happy St David's day!

Ta da:-
Both DDs in bed
DH cooking tea

To do:-
Put away clean laundry and put on more
5 min declutter
Evening routine
Before bed routine
Sort out world book day costume for DD2
Lay out homework that DD1 needs to do tomorrow morning
Some thank you letters from DD2

Look through a presentation - I have an interview on a Friday for some freelance work. It's apparently informal but judging by the presentation I have to give, practical skill and the fact there is then an interview I do not believe informal for a second!

Really hoping to sit down at some point and watch telly.

Here is the daily summary for Thursday...

The mission for the day is:-
We are going to work in the dining room today. Take 15 minutes and work some more on your de-cluttering. Toss anything that can be tossed and put away anything that can be put away. We are working towards the dining room being a dining room and not a storage and pile up area. Keep reminding yourself that you are going to change your home 15 minutes at a time.

The daily focus for Thursday is: errand day

Daily reminders reminders (radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)

Baby step number 2 (if you are starting out or want to revisit them) get dressed as soon as you get up
I don't get dressed to shoes each day but do find that getting dressed early has been one of the most life-improving things about following Flylady!

March habit is getting dressed to shoes - a controversial one here. I find getting dressed early so important but don't wear shoes in the house www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/march/

Flykids mission:
Today we are going to dig into our backpacks. If we clean out our back packs regularly we will know where our things are and have what we need. Let's throw away all the papers that we no longer need. Put these in the recycle bin or trash depending on what you use. If there are any papers that you needed to give to Mom or Dad, now is the time to do that.

Check to make sure that you have gotten everything that needs to be signed is signed and if you have any permission slips or things that need to be put on the calendar - go do that right now!!
Have Fun!!

Happy flying.
