Discrete air freshener that actually works for teenage sons bedroom

I've tried several gel cheapo ones, the reed ones the small square air wick box type thing, but nothing is great. Sons not a big fan of the whole air freshener thing or of opening his window, but it needs something that actually smells better than his room at present. I bought some reed ones from matalan cheap and cheerful but they don't smell, neither do the next ones. Do l have to pay more? Thanks

No you have to wash the bedding, the quilt and pillows, get all worn clothing out of the room and any suspicious tissues. Only then will things improve (voice of experience!)

no, air freshers are really bad for lungs.
I'm with pp, open windows daily, wash bed linnen at least weekly. don't let him store dirty clothes in his room.

air fresheners just add one stink on top of another. TBH I would rather smell reeking teen than air 'freshener'.

Remind him that entitled skankiness is likely to mean a lot less sex in future, and that if he wants to wreck a room, he can do it when he pays for it.

open windows, give washing machine lessons, no food upstairs, educate in general cleanliness.

Just wait until the whole place reeks of Lynx and still smells of it long after he's no longer there. We bought a house like that - took six months for the smell to dissipate.

Haha😆Had a good chuckle at the replies! And l totally agree... I've been on the Kondo journey and l attempted to look in his drawers...the cupboard variety! I must admit he's a sporty type and I kept pulling gym gear out and he kept saying...oh that needs a wash and that's been worn..that stinks! Great! So why did he stuff it back in the drawer?! So,I must keep a look out for kit!? As for the bedding washed every week ...or so😏 New quilt cover and bedding, mattress protector but his quilt is a feather and down one so l may take it to the dry cleaners for a spring clean and possibly a couple of new pillows. Several pairs of undergarments were binned as stuffed down the side !! TMI xx sorry. I'll keep opening the window he argues mossies come in! But he's supposed to be revising so spending a lot of time in his room....on his phone l suspect! The other sons bedroom smells of garlic and Lynx but he does put his clothes in the laundry..
l suppose l was after some magical air freshener that would eradicate the smell...but l knew it wouldn't be that easy! Although l have to say all the room smelly things really don't seem to smell to me..😟
