Cleaning my rug ...

We bought a rug last year. The label underneath says 'professional cleaning recommended'. It is 100% polyester.

I have a very good carpet cleaner that I used on our previous rug, purchased because we had an elderly cat that pissed everywhere.

This new rug really needs to be cleaned desperately. If I use my cleaner machine will I destroy it? Will it change the like in some way? WWYD?

Am not sure if this rug cleaner would be any good to you but this is what i use to clean my rug and it works a treat.
