Anyone got the Dyson V8 Animal or similar?

So I'm thinking of splashing out on this after Xmas. Got a hairy Labrador and looking for something that's easy to pull out for a quick run over the house. We have a Henry which we also use but it's a pain dragging it out every day or more so looking for an easier option. Would consider other cordless options but it's tricky finding reviews that are consistent. Any opinions on the Dyson or alternatives are welcome.

Getting one for Christmas from my mil!

Inappropriately excited about a household appliance.

...the Which? review is excellent. Couldn't fault it, apart from it said it was expensive.

I have one. Not the animal one..but it copes with all the hair I lose. It's pretty powerful too. I have an upright Dyson ball hoover too. I use the upright once a week and the cordless the rest of the time as there's no weight to it and it's less hassle with wires etc.

I've got the v6 and love it. I can only imagine as the v8 is more powerful and I think a longer battery life it's even better. I have a hairy dog and it copes well apart from on one rug where for some reason it won't suck up the dog hair from that rug.....sucks the hair up everywhere else and sucks anything else off the rug.

I've got a small animal upright and a v6 trigger for the stairs and car. Both are great but the animal is better for large areas

My sister said it was expensive but I don't think it is for what it does and the hassle it saves me especially as I have a 3 storey house and it makes hoovering the stairs a doddle

I really really want one of these but was told it was too boring for a Christmas present.

So I've negotiated a January sale purchase Xmas Grin

It's £399 which I think is as cheap as it's ever been.

I got my v6 earlier this year in a sale when it was knocked down from £300 to £250.

Never seen the v8 at £200. If it goes that low I'm buying it. Grin

I have the V8 Absolute and love, love, love it.

Just after I bought mine in November I found a fab offer on the Dyson website. The V8 Absolute and full sized Animal as a package for £599.

Wish I had seen that first !!

Gosh thx for all the replies. I'm even more convinced to buy now. Hope I can get a Xmas bargain
The Bosch one is a great price compared to Dyson but with so many positive responses I'm going to stick with my instincts and get the Dyson. If anyone sees any good sale bargains pls let me know!!!!

I had one - a Dyson and a lab Smile Loved it at first but lasted 18 months max. Not impressed. I bought a Vax Cordless Slim Pet to replace it and it's awesome. Paid £100 for it and it is streets ahead of the Dyson. Empties much easier and picks up better. The brushing bar can be changed from static to rolling for tiled and carpets. Also the filter is located in a different place so it doesn't smell "doggy" all the time. Battery life is double of the dyson and it has a switch on the power so you don't have to keep holding the button in.
Was chatting to the assistant when I was buying and she said the amount of people that bought this after being disappointed in the Dyson was huge.
I always had plug in Dysons prior to the cordless and couldn't fault them. Really disappointed in the cordless.
For £100 you can't complain and IMO it's a far superior product. I use it daily and it's so much easier to use.

I've got this Dyson and it's really good for cleaning up after my two dogs and it's really lightweight as well which is perfect for me!

So I have been looking through all the independent reviews I can find but it still looks like the V8 Animal is coming out top. Scary price but if it does what I need to do it will be worth it. Will be watching for a sale carefully.

For £100 more I'd get the v8, I sometimes wish my v6 was slightly more powerful.
