Fairy Non Bio New Scent!!!

Does anyone else hate Fairy non bios new scent as much as I do??
Half the reason I bought my beloved fairy for so many years was the lovely smell. I find the new scent really strong and almost a bit musty. I'm also now stuck with a new giant bottle of the stuff., With a scent I can't stand. If it ain't broke don't fix it! So stupidly annoyed lol. Sad

There was a post about this a while ago. Several people saying they have developed allergies to it. Proctor and Gamble have a web address where you can complain. They say they changed it and January and are onl y now becoming aware of issues with it.

Yes; P&G have changed the scent of their entire lines, not just Fairy, but Ariel/Daz/Bold and Lenor.

As mentioned above, contact P&G, if they get enough complaints, they may change it back.

I didn't know they changed the scents! I did think it smelled differently, but I've also changed from pods to powder. I've also got 6/7 itchy spots allergy type spots and wondered what I had changed!

I was disappointed too, am now using lidl ultra sensitive powder which is £2.50 for 2 18 wash bags, used with fairy softener (the almondy one) it smells good and no itching.

So glad I found your comments because that smell is SO bad it gave me a headache when ever I walked near my washed clothes and it also smelt disgusting.
I had to wash my clothes again in my normal powder.
Gutted to as I used this for gentle washes to avoid powder.
Glad I now know the problem.
I am returning it today and looking sadly for a replacement.

That's a shame cos the old smell was lovely. I used to buy Fairy when it was on special offer.

But I can (and often do) recommend Sainsbury's non bio powder in the big box. Lovely and gentle, works perfectly well and is cheap cheap cheap cheap!! Look at the price per wash on the shelf label.

Do you mean the white liquid or the blue gel?

Report
Shena0 · 08/04/2017 16:50

Just to clarify it's the gel that I found awful. I also use the powder but still on an old large one. Does anyone know if the powder has changed to as I have a giant one unopened but I will return if it's awful too.
I don't expect it to be different as the powder and gel were always very different smells anyway.
I've never used the liquid just gel.
Any thoughts appreciated!
I also returned the gel to Waitrose and told them why and they were interested in what I had to say. Hope the message gets to the right place though!

No I don't think it the powder has changed. I have some of the new powder and I think it is pretty much the same, if it has been changed it is only a very slight tweak.

This is kind of off-topic, but God I loved the smell of Aerial liquid when I lived in the UK. Sooo lovely. (Not available here 😥)

I came on here to see if anyone had noticed the new formulation. That is really the most awful smell ever.
And is in the powder too btw.

YES! It's in the powder too and I am so gutted again! I actually had the biggest carton of it you can buy and so my heart sank when I realised it too had that smell too. Not nearly as bad but still there.
I do wonder what on earth they have added to get that smell.
I also wrote a comment on their Facebook page of all things and got a reply and they asked me to message them privately. Still haven't but good at least to be heard. I wanted them to know that the gel positively gave me a headache when ever I walked past my washed clothes. Shame.

Golly, you have all got me worried. Been using it for years and have bought a few recently from Supersavers as they were cheaper than the supermarkets. No smell yet but there are two to open. Really worried about allergies as I suffer from eczema type conditions which is why I use it. What to buy instead? I always put detergent direct into the drum and use gel as I imagined it to be gentler on the skin.

I've used it for years for DD2's eczema....which has been AWFUL recently. Is this why?? I've got 4 boxes what do I do??

I've had the worst skin allergies for the past 6 weeks.. Fairy was the only wash liquid I could use that smells nice and I've been wondering if they'd changed the ingredients. Highly unhappy!!

I've finally found a biological which doesn't cause irritation, Method (lavender one, haven't tried the others), don't fancy going back to Fairy.

Stuck with powder which I now refuse to use or buy again had used for years. I now have to look for another Non Bio range

WHY DO THEY DO IT - Change formulations. For what purpose?
To lose loyal customers ?

I recently bought Fairy as it was on offer - usually use Persil non-bio. Geez worst allergy ever needed steroid cream from doc. Clothing only needs to touch me and I'm scratching as if demented. Have to rewash everything again. Saw someone revommended Lidl so will try that. Not a happy bunny.
