Cleaning kids thermos food flask.

I bought 2 food flasks for the kids to take soup for lunch last year but they weren't used much. I took them out today and one smells a bit, sort of a musty mouldy smell. I've washed it out with hot water and washing up liquid but the smell is still there. I think it must have been wet inside when put away. It looks clean but I'm not sure about using it.

Any tips on how to remove the smell and ensure it is safe to use?
Thanks

Can you remove the rubber bits?I just disassemble completely and put it in the dishwasher. failing that , soak it in hot water and baking soda. And never close the lid for storage. Smile

Thanks. I removed the rubber seal and washed that. It's much better now. I wasn't sure if I should do that in case it would damage the seal but it seems fine.
I was wondering about putting them in the dishwasher and when I checked on thermos site it said not to.

Next time you put them away put a piece of paper towel inside and don't screw the lid on. The towel will absorb any water and you can change it if you need to. If they smell again you can use bicarbonate of soda to get rid of the smells.

Bicarbonate & vinegar, top up with boiling water.

Leave to stand for a few mins, then rinse.

They do get stinky, don't they.

clean it out again but this time stick a brush like this inside and give it a good from the inside there maybe bacteria etc that has built up since you last used it.

Thanks. Going to get some vinegar and a bottle brush today and give them another good clean before using.

Thanks for the paper towel tip too.

Denture tablets take away the musty smell and give them a good clean.
