Tips on washing sheepskin rug

Just after your best tips really.

I bought a cheap ikea one about 10 years ago which has been through the washing machine many time and is starting to look worse for wear now, but I was bought a lovely John Lewis one which has not been washed yet so I want to do right by it Grin

I wouldn't usually use fabric conditioner on it (or can I?) but could I use some Zoflora to give it a scent boost or will this ruin it? I have a specialist wool cleaner to use, although someone told me on a thread about Stardrops I started that they get good results with that.

Also I stupidly spilled red candle was on it last year so if anyone has any tips on how to get that out I would be extra grateful!

I machine washed a JL one and it ruined it - I had to though as the child had thrown up on it.

Can you get them dry cleaned?

Washed all mine (even tumble dried) they were fine, but need a good brush. Big job so they just look a bit ragged

Both mine are from John Lewis. Washed them three times now, with Stardrops in the sink and then rinsed in sink and then rinsed and spun in the washing machine. Came up better than new. I brushed them out with my curly hairbrush, the one with wide spacing when wet and again when dry.

Oh, no fabric conditioner, just the Stardrops
