Help to get coffee out of car interior

LaundryQueenHatesIroning · 14/10/2016 10:21

DH has spilled a whole latte in his new car. It is in the foot well. He cleaned it best he could at the time but said the whole car now stinks of coffee, particularly when the car warms up.

Can anyone help with suggestions on the best way to clean it, the emphasis being on getting the smell out!

It's his first ever lease car and he was making a big song and dance about how he needed to keep it in perfect condition!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Try pouring lots of bicarbonate of soda where it fell. Leave to soak overnight & Hoover the next day. You may need to do this more than once. Chalk also absorbs smells so pop a few sticks in there too.

1001 upholstery spray claims to neutralise odours also.

If that doesn't work, perhaps febreeze?

He'll need something to breakdown the milk proteins too. How about a solution of warm water with some biological washing liquid in, scrub it on then boot and leave to dry.

I know exactly how you feel my DH done the same thing a few months back and it was a pain in the backside to get rid of the stain. I use this upholstery cleaner with a sponge cloth and it did the trick. Spray it on leave for a minute or two to soak and then clean off with the sponge.
