Looks like my dyson handheld is about to finally give up the ghost. Can anyone recommend a handheld which is good for stairs and child-related messes when you can't be arsed to schlep the hoover out? Will be replacing dyson dc16 which has served well but slowed down considerably towards the end. Thanks in advance!

A VAX cordless handheld would be a good alternative for you i reckon. It's lightweight and will be powerful enough to clean up little messes around the house.
