Piles of shoes

We have a lovely big boot room but it's filled with shoes.
2 teens who seem to shed footwear around the house which I chuck in the room then close the door.
Wellies & walking boots are sorted but is there a solution to all these trainers? There's no chance that anyone will use a neat wall hung shoe rack that I've seen on Pinterest.

Are the trainers all wanted, and in useable condition (i.e. fit properly, undamaged)?

We had a surprising amount of trainers that were never worn and not wanted for a variety of reasons when we sorted though ours a few months ago.

We've done a bit of a cull MrsJoey but they seem to have tennis trainers/ other sports trainers/going out for best trainers/ slobbing about trainers.

Plus, lots of them are quite smelly so I'm loathe to chuck them in their bedrooms.

Teenagers and shoes

We each have a big fabric covered box from IKEA, one per person, lined up in the hall. All the shoes get chucked in the correct box. They also have lids so it doesn't look as messy.

I may have two boxes for me as I have lots and lots of shoes

A box each is a good idea. It's not a room that we use so even al of fruit crate each might work. Thanks.

stick a post it note to the sole of all the shoes, then check back in 4 weeks. The ones that still have postit notes un touched, bin :)

you can do the same thing by tying their laces together if the shoes have them :) the ones that are still tied after 4 weeks can be binned :)
