Has anyone bought a good one recently?
I don't want to spend more than £100
Was thinking about an upright, just because it looks tidier in my hall!
It must be able to cope with cat hair and long dd hair too.
If the hose can get all the way upstairs that would be nice.

After years 'getting by' with cheaper ones, I bought a Henry and it really, really is the best.
I have a friend who cleans for a living, and says if the house doesn't have a Henry, then she takes her own, it's just so much better.

Henry's are the only vacuums worth buying under £100. The best uprights are Sebo's but they're nearer £200. They last forever though

Me too! Our Vax Pet one is less than a year old and utter shit. We don't even have pets!! I do have long hair though.

Good to hear about the Henrys, I was considering one as we had one in a flat we rented and it was really good, and they're £99 in our homebase currently!

I have had a bad before and they are crap. Not keen on a Henry, due to the bag and never knowing what to do with the stupid pipe.
I have had a Dyson in the past but it was good to start with then went rubbish which seems to be the pattern no matter how much you pay.
I have ordered an upright zanusi 'pet' which was under £60 so won't be that bothered if it doesn't last too long.

I HATE Henry's ...heavy to move about, plus I walked into the little fucker darling and broke my toe! I get a fear when I see one now, I'm sure they are possessed

Me too - also want to spend up to £100. I might be persuaded on a Henry!
Agree with PP, have a Vax and it's crap!

OP I've since bought a Miele for about £160 on Amazon and it's really fab! So strong even on Eco setting and quite light and looks well made.

I brought this upright Zanussi vacuum cleaner and it's great. Well within your price range, check it and let us know what you think.

My new one is like that, but with blue bits! I haven't had much of a chance to play with it, but it's certainly powerful- it tried to eat the rug! grin

Avoid a Dyson upright. Ours is like Trigger's broom (from Only Fools and Horses) as it's had so many replacement bits that it's practically a brand new Hoover.

We had a Dyson upright. It progressively got more useless and in the end just pushed the dirt around.

We've had a Shark (can't remember the price). Much lighter and infinitely better. Much more thought gone into it than the Dyson. Longer cabel and even little headlights to see into dark corners! cheap--thrills blush
