how to get lipstick/ gloss off a dress?

So, DD is 11, has a lip balm obsession, bought a baby lips limited edition which turns out to be bright red. Went Prom dress shopping, found a gorgeous white and blue patterned satin type dress but got lip balm on it when taking it off.
I don't know whether to try detergent wiped over the spot or make up remover - any tips gratefully received!

I tend to remove anything greasy with washing up liquid. You need to put it in the wash afterwards though.

I got biro on a light blue top last week, google suggested using shaving gel to get it off and it worked a treat, might be worth a try.

Maybe try an oil & gease remover on the stain then wash as normal.

Eek, I don't really want to wash it if I can help it, just treat the stain - is this possible?

The only thing with spot treating is you will end up with a water mark when it dries where you have applied the stain remover & scrubbed.
