vacuuming

Just had words with DH about vacuuming. He believes as I vacuumed the whole house last Monday I don't need to do it again today. I believe at least once a week is necessary and I'd do it more if I had time. We have 2 DC (9 and 2) and no pets.
How often do you vacuum?

When I feel the urge. Doesn't need to be a regime. Could it do with a hoover? Well let's do it then.

I Hoover somewhere in the house every day - I have upstairs and downstairs vacuums so that makes it easier as does having cordless vacuums . There are 4 of us and one non shedding dog.

The vacuum is used everyday. During the week, I spot vac and just keep on top of the rooms that need it. Usually the hallway, kitchen and utility room as they are the high traffic areas of our house. I do the whole house from top to bottom once a week

Downstairs: once a week and no more, although I use a dust pan and brush in the kitchen when needed.
Upstairs: once a fortnight.

One teenager, no pets and no shoes inside, which makes a huge difference.

Just bought a cordless Dyson so every day or two. When the novelty wears off it'll be when the carpet looks like a biohazard Grin

Every 3-6 MONTHS Shock

I have a cordless Dyson, I whiz round everywhere on an evening. Takes 5 minutes and always picks up a full load of dust so it's worth it.

If I had to faff on unplugging and carrying a heavy thing about it'd be every other day.

The cleaner does it fortnightly and the lounge/living areas might get done one extra time or spot cleaned (it's a cordless) if there's a particular mess.

Wish I could be bothered to do it twice per week but I can't. Too hard to work around all of the toys and other crap on the floor.

Can I ask about cordless hoovers ? Do you have to have a thingy screwed to the wall for charging them ?

Report
Doinmummy · 04/06/2016 20:22

I Hoover downstairs once maybe twice a week. Upstairs probably about once a fortnight

KP86 · 04/06/2016 20:23

My cordless (Morphy richards) has a stand and cord that plugs into the wall and then you rest the vacuum on the stand to recharge.

I'd love one but don't like the idea of it being on show and haven't got a utility room or even a cupboard to put it in

Crikeyblimey · 04/06/2016 20:27

We have a plug socket in the cupboard under the stairs, so the cordless lives in their with its charging thing on the wall! I loves it.

As for vacuuming, downstairs probably onece / twice a week. Upstairs weekly stairs and landing, bedrooms every couple of weeks when I can be arsed.

Depends on the room, but bedrooms tend to be less than monthly.
Even the most vacc'd rooms don't get done every week.

cleaner does the whole house 3 times a week. I do the kitchen, playroom and main hallway the other days - if it is not done every day, dust bunnies form.

I have a few ishoos regarding Cleaning. In all honesty, I probably Hoover at least three times a day.

I have 2 small DC and light carpets. I know that I Hoover way too much though.

I currently have a hideous cordless Vax which I loathe as our old Miele one packed up . I loved that Hoover and it was super powerful- we purchased it way before the stupid EU regulation regarding maximum wattage allowed for Hoovers came in.

I'm currently researching the best Vacuum cleaners on the market, but definitely not going to be buying a cordless one again.

Ankleswingers, you might he surprised by some of the new Eco vacuums. We have a newer 620w Henry for the garage and its so powerful it could suck the paper clean off the walls
