water marks on fabric sofa

Last night i spilt some diet coke on our sofa. I rinsed it out as i didnt want to use any products. This morning there were clear patches where the water had been. The fabric which is slights velour (ish) seems to be less shiny in those areas too.
Ive tried rinsing and blotting it out with an iron this morning. And it looks a bit better but the fabric itself still feels and looks different in those areas...
Any ideas what i could try next!?!

Buff the fabric with a small brush, similar to a washing up brush/nail brush etc, this will get the pile back.
