What is the best way of cleaning shower panels?

We are having our bathroom refitted and are having shower panels instead of tiles. What is the best way of cleaning the panels? Our plumber has advised me that some bathroom cleaners can be too abrasive for them. He recommended wipes but I am not too keen on using them.
