zoflora in steam mop and hoover

Has anyone either broken a steam mop by putting zoflora in it or used it in their mop for years without incident?? Also can anyone give me a dummy's guide to freshening my hoover with zoflora and cotyon wool?? I have a bagged cylinder. Thank you on advance for any advice!

Neat on a cotton ball, dont soak it just a bit, pop it in the bag. I have used it without incident in my steam mop, however the steam mop is only 5 months old.

Posted too soon. I use half a cap full in my 400ml water tank in the steam mop.

I used to add a capful of Zoflora or Flash to the water tank, until the mop stopped steaming. I took it apart and saw that the nozzle which fits into the mop head looked a little foamy. Prodded about with it, getting nowhere (and pushing whatever it was further up) I braced myself, and sucked hard on the nozzle ( gross I know, but I was desperate!!) I ended up with a mouthful of congealed detergent and foam.
Naturally, I don't ever want to repeat this, so from now on I'll have a spray bottle of diluted Zoflora as 'spray as I go!!'

The locking cap on my Karcher steam cleaner got locked permanently shut just after I first added Zoflora, never doing that again.

It took a while for the nozzle to block though. I've had a good 12 months. Obviously just clogged up slowly over time.
I don't intend to use the 'suck & spit' technique on anything else, ever again! never a bloody steam mop!!!

Zoflora is highly toxic isnt it?? You are crazy to suck it out!!! Ok after reading these tales of woe i wont put Zoflora in the steam mop. It's a cylinder style Karcher and i would be gutted if it broke. I will go for 'spray and mop'. Got my cotton wool ball now so off to scent my manky hoover. Thanks for all the advice folks!

No, I didn't ingest! Wink It was extremely diluted anyway! But won't do it again, promise!

I haven't tried this but what would be the point? Do you not think that boiling hot water is serilising enough or something? Isn't the whole point of a steam mop that you don't need to use floor cleaning stuff or antibac chemicals?

You can buy fragrances drops specifically for steam mops and irons - I got some off amazon

Zoflara direct onto the mop head here. Love the stuff. It stays nice smelling for ages. I only use a few drops too. There is part of their website that tells you lots of ways you can use it

I broke my steam mop with zoflora.
But it works great in a vacuum cleaner. I've got a dyson and I dab it on some kitchen roll and stick it straight in the cylinder.

I bought an atomiser and have my preferred cleaning solution prepared in it. I spray the floor and then use my steam mop (containing just water) to clean. No worries about contaminating or ruining the steam mop. Sorry don't know about the hoover.

Dying to get my hands on Zoflora another MN recommendation I have to buy!

It was for the smell, which makes it even more of a stupid thing for me to do because I am generally a hater of fragranced products. I use Zoflora for convenience but generally hate the fragrances, that time I had bought the rose one and it was actually nice, all the others I've tried have reeked. If they did an unfragranced version I'd buy that.

The point is the smell rabbit - im not concerned about chemicals, the point of the steam mop for me is the convenience of not lugging a bucket of dirty water around and slopping it everywhere. Im actually rather fond of cleaning products - i clean so rarely that i like the full effect when i do it!

You can buy Zoflara in pound land - or our massive Tesco has it too. Love the hyacinth one. Especially on dishcloths that can smell a bit damp. Makes me think I clean more than I really do ;0)

I've never done anything to scent the steam mop.

But with the hoover, every time I empty the cannister, I suck up half a capful of those Lenor Unstoppable Beads. Smells beautiful.

I've got some of those beads, will they work with a Dyson?

It's getting a bit expensive spraying my perfume on the filters but so much better than dog smell.

I was very tempted to shower out the cyclone part last week after seeing a few people on YouTube get away with it,but I chickened out!

When I use my steam mop I put some of the cleaner I want to use on the cloth pad before putting it on the bottom of the steamer.
