Just a get a new one, the lowering of the wattage hasn't made a blind difference. We've got a new 520w Henry at work and it's actually got more suction than the 1100w Henry I have at home.

Plus, if whatever new one you get turns out to be rubbish, you can always take it back.

The lowering of wattage has changed for me as mine is a 2000w and you can feel the pull on the carpet which I personally love ( sad I know Wink) the highest now is 1600 Confused

The lowering of vacuuming wattages has not caused a major drop in suction because as part of legislation, the vacuum still has to perform to the same standards with less power. That's why the ratings have been introduced.
Higher wattage doesn't mean it will pick up better anyway, it just means it uses more electric. That's the whole point of the new law.
