So today I have...
Decluttered my clothes, shoes, drawers and wardrobe,
Deep cleaned the bathroom,
Washed and remade all beds,
Hoovered properly upstairs,
Decluttered and organized the airing cupboard,
Cleared out huge upstairs cupboard and reorganized,
Made room for all the dds new Christmas presents (sneaked out two no bags full of crap in order to make room!!)
7 bin bags of crap have left the house today, is it sad that I'm really excited!Grin
Starting downstairs tomorrowWine

I bet you feel better after that! I'm trying to sell some things on Gumtree and Ebay, getting some stuff sold but it's pretty slow going.

Well done!
I need to do exactly the same when I recover from my cold!

We have a big box of stuff to eBay in our bedroom cupboard, it's been there two yearsShock. Dh insists he will sell it all soon, I might have to sneak items out one a week!
Could probably have sold some stuff that went out today but to be honest I just want it gone, I'm feeling very organised and clearGrin
The one I'm not looking forward to doing is the loft, it's all old furniture and stuff so will need a van to take to the tip. Or a skip, ooh I'd love a skip!

Oh my!! How sad! I'm excited to have decluttered my airing cupboard and the cupboard under the stairs today!
The car is ready to go to the recycling centre and I have loads of clothes and linen ready for the charity shop.
Having putting it off for years!!

Feels good though doesn't it!
I'm tempted to do some decorating once everything is de cluttered. The enthusiasm will probably have worn out by then thoughConfused

Ah, my people Grin

Freezer already defrosted with a reminder in my phone to reassess in February.
Bike gone via Gumtree yesterday.
Tonight the oven is getting done, I know, I know I'm wild.
Coat rack and baby items next.

My issue is there's never much to go out bin bag wise. My 3 year old has the memory of an elephant so rotating and storing toys is what I have to do, if I ever binbagged stuff he'd inevitably ask for something very specific that was in it the following day.

But more and most importantly, I'm so grateful to have a home to clean, to be safe from flooding, to have generous relatives who always provide gifts with love and to be able to either donate or sell on cheaply things I've used that others might need.

Just came to start exactly this sort of thread. We are hoping to move this year so decided on a declutter.

Before Christmas managed to sort baby clothes and now have 2 bags rather than 7. Also a whole black sack of dressing up clothes went.

Today I went through a kitchen drawer and got rid of about half a bag of disused utensils a big saucepan I never use. DD went to her room and produced 2 big shopping bags full of books and 2 of toys (the big aldi trolly bags). I also found another 20 books on shelves in sitting room to go.

DP drove the lot to a charity shop so its GONE.

Worst thing is house looks no better but surely however it looks it must be a little better Grin

Oh can I join. Going to start in Dds room in the morning. This house really needs a declutter.

Well done, always feels better when house is clear.

Right on with the floods, I'm smack bang between Manchester and West Yorks, so seen all the devastation, my Mum was stuck in the house due to flood and MIL had to be evacuated as her house was actually flooded.

But thankfully, everyone safe and the genorousity to the local communities from nearby and around the country has been amazing and very much appreciated.

e1 is there anything we can do as individuals? All this stuff being cleared out, could we parcel force it to an evacuee centre or something?

This is my plan for next two days. Grandparents are helping with dds so we can get the place completely new year ready. We moved last week and still have furniture to build and boxes to unpack!

Thank you for your very kind offer asas.

As far as I know, most of the organization of stuff like this is from admins on the community pages of local towns on Facebook, namely

Calder Valley Flood Support - for Victim's of Flooding in Calderdale, one of the worst hit.
Tod Chat and That - forum for Todmorden West Yorks

There are others, but on those 2 pages, they would definitely appreciate any help and would be able to suggest any others who need help too.

Thank you

I'm still at ILs but back home tomorrow so itching to get started with a declutter and clean up.

January is going to be busy work wise so I need my house in order!

hoopyloopy I had oven cleaner round just before Christmas, it was gleaming! Well worth the money - do it Smile

hoopy check to see if your oven has a self-clean function, that should incinerate the worst of the grease and fat off, you might be able to tackle anything that's left after that!

Report
hoopyloopycow · 30/12/2015 12:30

No not self cleaning unfortunately! I'll just pretend it's not there this week and see how much a professional clean will be in the new year!

So far today I've done,
Both dds clothes and books
Under stairs cupboard
And sorted a few bags dh has thrown down from the loft.

Ohh can I join?

Yesterday I bagged up 2 bin bags of DS's old toys. They have only made it as far as the shed but will charity shop them in my week off in February along with lots of other stuff once I've sorted it. Or I might do a boot sale if I can be arsed. Probably won't though.

Also cleared out gym kit and pyjama drawers to make room for new stuff, plus had a mini purge of DS's clothes.

Today i need to clean the bathroom and then try and have a clear out of my wardrobe and airing cupboard.

Before Xmas we gumtree'd loads and made almost £500 in a couple of weeks.

A little more ready for the charity shop.

A shopping bag full of books, a small box full of glasses and mugs and another carrier bag full of assorted stuff. DP will hopefully put in the car and take it away tomorrow. Will also be asking him to take the baby bath.

Also filled half a bin bag with various things.

DDs clothes tomorrow I think.

Does anyone know what I can do with DSs old car seat. Nothing wrong with it - never been in a crash etc. Do charity shops take them?

I keep telling myself that every tiny item out of the house helps but worried I'm still not noticing a difference :(

Well doneSmile every little bit does make a difference!
Charity shops don't normally take car seats I think, if you are on Facebook you could put it on a local selling site? Or any friends that would be grateful of it? Any local child minders? If not will have to go the tip, which seems really wasteful when there's nothing wrong with it!

Sounds like we've all been very productive ladies!! Well done. Hope no one has been too badly affected by the floods.

We've managed to
Buy new curtains and accessories for bedroom
Dh and fil are currently building furniture for the bedrooms.
I have gutted the playroom and filled a black bag to go out. Have sorted toys too young and too old for the girls and have put them in the loft as I can't cope just now with trying to donate or sell so will deal with that at a later date when we're not trying to unpack a house too.
The playroom almost looks like a playroom now yay.

I've got both car seats in our (huge) wardrobe. Can't bear to part with them or the hope of another
