Period stains!

Might be TMI, but I recently bought a multipack of M&S knickers, I have had them before, and the new pack said "new and improved fabric" - immediately got me suspicious, but I need new knickers, so I bought them anyway. The original ones were cotton, the new ones I think have some Lycra in the cotton. They feel fine, but then I get my period and I get a few stains on them. Normally they wash very well, even period stains comes out with biological washing powder. But not these new ones! So after washing them I soak them in a hot water and biological washing powder solution over night and wash them again. Stains are still there, and it's like they are raised! Any tips?

Don't try to remove stains of any sort with hot water: it sets the stains and can make them nigh on impossible to get out. Cold water or slightly warm is best.

Sunlight might work to fade the stains.

Cold water & salt is supposed to help get out the stains but is best used prior to washing as it loosens the stain. Once washed with hot water it does set in the stain. Maybe try soaking in Napisan if they sell that in the UK.

Biotex shifts everything - leave for 24 hours in a solution of this

www.bio-tex.co.uk

I have sensitive skin and can't use bio washing powder so I use biotex for stains and then wash with my normal powder - everything comes out.

Cold water, definitely - I usually mix in some bio washing powder in cold water in a bucket and leave it there till I get round to doing the normal laundry, and then throw it in with everything else.

Thanks, all - I havebnøt used Biotex for years, will look forward to that, it was a staple on my mum's laundry shelf ;)

Cold water is too late, as I have already washed the knickers several times. Last try was bicarb and vinegar, it did take some, but the stains are still there and raised, grr!

It was my mother's staple too miss, I only found it last year and it is amazing, means that I can continue to use fairy for everything (although it isn't that good for stains it is good for my skin).

Stick them on the washing line for a week. Less if the weather actually brightens up!

It works on my CSP.
