Carrier bag a day till Christmas challenge anyone?

Trying to de-clutter everywhere before Christmas comes. Wondered if anyone wanted to join this carrier bag challenge?
Whether it be clothes or toys passed on/donated/sold/binned or indeed any other household stuff you want to get rid of, I thought filling one carrier bag a day seems more achievable than trying to tackle a whole room at once!

A bin bag of stuff counts for 3 carrier bags Grin

Got rid of a bag of kids clothes to the charity shop today and got a load of cuddly toys waiting to go into school tomorrow for the school fair. Feel lighter already!

Well done. Great idea!

My DC are 19 and 16 so they need to go through their stuff themselves but I need to go through my own bedroom. It's so messy my watch has been lost in it for weeks Blush

I have lots of my own books from childhood. I keep meaning to take them to the Oxfam bookshop but I'm curiously precious about them.

Right I'll start on the cupboard at the bottom of the stairs - there are loads of too-small gloves and stuff there.

Thanks for starting this thread. Glad you're feeling lighter.

I thought you meant sort a carrier bag a day, as a lot of my clutter is in them ...

Great!
Going to see if I can fill one of my clothes now, there's definitely stuff in my drawers I avoid wearing so I just need to be ruthless!

Ohh - just what I need to make space for the people let alone the gifts coming into the house. First bag is going to be charity shop clothes sitting ready sorted (have been for weeks).

I'm in. Great idea. Seems much less daunting than doing a huge sort out.

We are in process of decorating two rooms so I have been sorting through stuff anyway.

My bedrooms is a mess. I haven't even put summer clothes away so wRdrobe is jam packed. I've got a bag ready to go to charity shop today and some games and other stuff.

I'm in, great idea. I have a 2 year old and a 5 month old and I'm dreading the influx of 'stuff' at Christmas, especially as 2 year old has just had her birthday.

I took a bag yesterday - needed to go to post office and there is a charity clothes bin there so took a bag I had ready so that's one down.

Today will be a charity shop run with some games and a few other bits.

Thanks for the idea OP, I'm in.

Loads of stuff to sort through before decorations go up and influx of rubbish toys for DCs.

I'm in. No visitors this Christmas but hope getting rid of some stuff will improve DP' s mood as he hates clutter( not that he helps tidy up!)

Ooh I'm in, moving house so much as it's tempting to just pack everything and deal with it when we get there, this should lighten the load a bit!

I'm in ! I'm the same as grotbag . I need to get rid of some toys and clutter before Christmas . What a good idea

Great idea. I sorted out a bin bag full of old blankets and pillows to take to my local RSPCA animal shelter. Will take that today.

I also have a load of stuff currently on eBay - can that count too?! Once it's out the door obviously, it has to sell first!

I'm in! Am thinking I will alternate binning and charity stuff. Today's task is unwanted plastic crap from any room - quick blitz of the obvious stuff!

Perfect timing for a thread OP. I always like to clear out before Christmas.

I want to be in but there are no charity shops where I live Sad When we moved a year and a bit ago I did this earnest before the move - took at least one bag of stuff with me every time I left the house. My Dad died in the summer and my mum has been taking this approach to clearing out his stuff - she's found it much easier than doing a big hit and actually quite therapeutic in a funny sort of way.

Great idea. If your getting rid of toys Banardos will give you a £5 ARGOS voucher if you donate to them

I'm in. Going to start with unwanted paperwork etc from the front room. Burn anything with id on and recycle the rest! Great idea for a thread OP

Great stuff glad you're all on board too, sometimes reading about what other people are getting rid of gives me a new idea if what I can sort through. And yes grey eBay definitely counts, anything does as long as a carrier bag of stuff leaves your house and doesn't returnGrin

Managed to cobble together a bag of my clothes to donate later today, half of it was maternity stuff- my baby is almost 18 months Blush

Only thing is my friend dropped a bag of clothes of for ds which I'm hugely grateful for but I'm going to try and get rid of an extra carrier bag today to combat the one coming in!

Rudolph - burning the paperwork is a good idea . I have so much that I haven't been bothered throwing out as they have details on them. Must light a fire this week

1 carrier bag of paper/cardboard taken out to the recycling bin and a load more burnt on the fire. I'm feeling better already! Tomorrow's focus is going to be on my ds' clothes. Feeling inspired! Smile
