Hoover vs Steam Mop & Rechargeable Sweeper

First Time posting on this board.

My hoover is on the blink. I've been debating a steam mop for ages also.
Opinions please
Lidl had a steam mop and a rechargeable sweeper this week - will these two items be good buys? Lidl Link

We have a mix of solid and laminate flooring and tiles, no carpet at all. Is a hoover a waste of money?

A Hoover definitely isn't a waste of money. The suction will pull out any dust, dust mites, fleas etc that can lurk between the tiny cracks in your laminate. On the plus side, it doesn't need to be an expensive or fancy Hoover as you don't need much suction to clean a hard floor (you need more for carpet obviously). A compact or rechargeable Hoover would be ideal for all hard floors

As for steam mops, they're good for sanitising the floor, but not so great for actually shifting dirt. Muddy foot prints, spilt food or anything else than can dry is a nightmare to shift with a steam mop. You have to clean that kind of stuff up with a proper mop first

The rechargeable sweeper has a 4.8V battery I wonder if that's enough suction for the laminate floors.

Trying to make best decision now rather than have regrets later.

Those rechargeable sweepers don't generate any suction. The motor is only to turn the brush. If it's "sweeper", it doesn't suck. Only if it's a "vacuum cleaner"

Oh I thought it might because it has a collection tray

Well it does have a collection tray. They're sweepers - the brushes spin round a pick up bits from the floor and it's all caught in those little trays, but it doesn't suck. They only sweep.

Hmm maybe I'll leave off the steam mop as any advice I've gotten seems to point in the direction that it's not for me, and buy the rechargeable sweeper now and the hoover in the sales in January.
