Best soft bedding?

I love the feel of soft smooth bedding. I'm looking for some new bedding- the sets I have now I've had for years and they're looking a bit tatty.

I don't want to spend a fortune- what do you recommend?

I bought a DKNY bedlinen set from TK Maxx recently and it is fantastically smooth and soft.
