How do you stop the bin liner in your wheelie bin from falling in?

Is there something people do to prevent it falling in every time I throw something in. It seems to be OK as it gets fuller. MIL uses sticky tape but I wanted something quicker.

What bin liner?! Where I live you just chuck it all in without!

I didn't know you were supposed to use a liner in the wheelie bin? The outside one? We just chuck everything in any which way and then it gets tipped out into the bin lorry every other week.

We use liners in indoor bins, but then put them directly in the wheelie bin.
The bin men want the rubbish to fall out easily, when they put the wheelie bin on the tipping arm of the bin lorry.

Who uses wheelie bin liners? And why?

We have 3 wheelie bins (General rubbish, recycling, garden/kitchen waste)

Don't use binliners for any of them. They're all pretty horrid inside. I do hose them out occasionally but, you know, they're dustbins Grin

Bloody hell. Is this another grownup thing that has completely passed me by?

A wheelie bin liner? I'm still getting my head round people cleaning their wheelie bins...

No QueenLaBeefah: I'm one of the many who've never heard of a bin liner for the wheelie bin! Still working out where the decent bin liners for my 50L brabantia went!

My neighbour has one. I didn't know what it was until I just read this thread.
WhyTF do you need to line it? I throw rubbish in it, the nice men come and empty it, I don't need the inside to be clean please don't tell me I'm supposed to clean them out

We put pegs on ours, does the trick.

We don't use a liner, but do have them cleaned monthly by a company that cleans bins.

Have I been offending the bin men all these years? Am I on some kind of database monitoring all the slovenly people?

Liners??

I don't bother wit one, but NDN has for as long as I can remember and uses clothes pegs to clip it to the underside of the rim. Never seems to have failed.

That's not a thing. Defo.

And yes, most of our stuff goes in pre-bagged (though less since the carrier bag charge.) Once in a while, DH blasts it with the Karcher jet wash. One of those times was when a stray panty liner stuck fast and wouldn't dislodge. Another was when we got maggots, one particularly hot summer (the summer when MN was full of wheely bin maggot threads, oddly enough!)
