In his helpfulness DP has cleaned my lovely (quite expensive) set of oak nesting tables with flash!
It's kind of stripped the top of them in places, is there anything I can do to save them?
I want to cry! dramatic

If it wasn't varnished then just sand and oil them and they'll be fine.

Fingers crossed for you!

It should do.
We have hardwood kitchen work tops and if they get stained or faded a quick sand and then re oiling with danish(?) oil makes them look like new.

Good luck! grin

if they are veneered, sanding will abrade away some or all of the veneer.

Oh I don't know if they're veneered not even entirely sure what this means ?

with a bit of practice you will recognise it by glancing at the end of a piece of timber to see if it has end grain; or reverse side to see if the underside grain corresponds with the top grain.

You will now notice people looking at the tops of doors and the sides of drawers when assessing their quality.
