Please help me get rid of the vomity smell!

DS2 has been ill over the weekend, and has vomited a copious amount all over the sitting room carpet (a good amount was also absorbed by my top!) Problem is I can't get rid of the smell. As soon as it happened I got busy with the hot soapy water and cleaned it up, then used the vanish carpet stain remover stuff. It worked in that there is not a single mark on the carpet, but the smell is still there over 24h later. It reeks and I've had the windows open all day, and DH tells me he enticed half a can of febreeze in here last night to no avail.

Please someone tell me how to get rid of this god awful stench - it's making me feel sick too!

Ooh I'll pop out for some and give that a go thanks March
Was on the verge of incinerating the bloody carpet (sure the smell is getting worse!)

Sprinkle it with bicarb and rub/stamp it in, then vacuum it up after a while (just like shake and vac!). It neutralises the butyric acid which is responsible for the horrible stench.

Yes bicarbonate soda. Shake all over & leave for a while

Thanks for the tip (why didn't I think of that?!)
Now for the next challenge - keeping DS2 off it/stopping him from trying to eat it so it has long enoug to work...

I recommend the bicarb as well. DS vomited all over his mattress and I had the same problem with the smell. I sprinkled the bicarb on, rubbed it in well and left it for 24 hours. Then I hoovered it off and there was no more smell. Brilliant!!

Zoflora for anything vomit related. Works a treat.

Bicarb or neutradol carpet deodoriser will remove it

Another vote for bicarbonate of soda.

I hope your DS is feeling better now.

Bicarb has worked for me too. I left it overnight too be sure. Good luck!

Best tip I've read on here that works is biological soap powder mixed with cold water. Scrubbed carpet and it was gone like magic when the bicarb and other options failed.
