I have 5 children under 8 and a black labrador, so my floors get pretty disgusting quickly.I have a henry at the moment and even though the suction is good it really annoys me as its quite cumbersome and i hate dragging it round.

I have a Gtech but its crap so i only use it for upstairs as thats the only place in the house i have carpets.

I quite fancy an upright?Any recommendations?

The Miele uprights are very good (and quite expensive), but a cylinder is better if you have hard floors and stairs.

We some people have a vac for each floor of the house.

An upright is better for downstairs carpets which will have dirt trampled in from outside, especially if you have dogs. The beaters are good for fleas and eggs, better than a turbo head.

I have a Dyson animal. It's really and has lasted a long time but that could be because it's not overworked Wink.

I have 3 DS and 2 big hairy dogs, I have a Dyson and it's brilliant. It came with a 5 year warranty if you register it and they are very good, nearly at end of warranty and just had new motor fitted with no hassle.

I hate my Dyson animal. It's always breaking, constantly in bits. The suction is good but the problems totally outweigh the price of it. I would never buy another.

I have a meile that is worked very hard with a fur ball show Labrador and a ds with complex needs. It is still excellent, despite being years old. I was being drawn to Gtech - I only have carpet on stairs and upstairs. What's the problem with it?

The Gtech just isn't heavy duty enough for us, i imagine it would be great for someone with no kids or even someone who had just a couple of kids who were at school or something. It is good for a cordless one as ive tried a few and its the best one ive tried, plus i paid extra to have the handheld one that goes with it and that really is awful, hardly any suction at all.Ill probably end up just giving it away.

My lot are home educated and we are not a shoes off inside house wither, which i know is my own fault but i don't see how i could police it with the younger 3 without going insane, they are in and out of the garden all day (which is a good thing!)

Miele C3 Cat & Dog for a cylinder or a Sebo X4 Pet for uprights.

Dyson have been rubbish since production went over seas.
