"American" liquid soap

I've found an "eco-friendly" recipe for cleaning the bathroom on an american site that says to use liquid soap
I'm not sure what that refers to.
I'm erring towards dish washing stuff rather than laundry washing or hand soap but I don't know.
Can anyone give me a clue?

Would it be something like castille soap? That's liquid and very gentle and I assume eco friendly.
