Mattress Protectors - keeping them on the bed

PurpleWithRed · 31/12/2014 11:29

Every night the mattress protector and therefore the sheet creep up the sides of our mattress and get all rumpled up. And we are just sleeping in the bed, nothing vigorous going on (except his snoring). Drives us both nuts.

He thinks a mattress protector is a poncey unnecessary middle class kind of thing and we should do without; I refuse to sleep in the bed without one and wash it with the sheets.

Any solutions o wise ones?

Deeper mattress protector? I got mine from the white company but I believe they have them at John Lewis as well.

Why do you need one?

A good quality mattress protector with deep sides & firm elastic is great (& Iggly, all mattresses should have some kind of cover! a) they're expensive & you don't want to stain them & b) the covers are usually synthetic & something cotton between the sheet & them is a good idea)

Try TK Maxx anyway, OP. They have some fab ones Smile

I got ours from M&S and they come with a length of elastic on the corners that you wrap over the mattress so they never slide off. All our sheets have elasticated corners which then holds it in place further. Saying that my mattress has a top layer of memory foam which may be helping it to not slide off.

Dancing, one of ours has the strips of elastic at the corners but one of them has detached at one end, dammit

Our JL ones do this, so I wouldn't guarantee that theirs won't.

I have an allergy cover on mine which does similar. Zips around the whole mattress.

Aldi have some double and king size ones in with elastic at the corners - I find those stay on better. Everyone moves while sleeping, some more than others; if you are still finding the mattress protector rucks up try putting an old folded flat sheet on the mattress as a protector with no overhang down the sides with a fitted sheet over the top.

I find the ones with sides work better than the ones with just corner elastics.
